Introduction
The Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE) has introduced a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) to be offered during evening hours beginning from 4.00p.m., as well as weekends. This programme is aimed at those who intend to work or are already working in the education sector and wish to enhance their career prospects in the teaching profession. The programme provides a flexible route to earn a teaching profession qualification and allows candidates to combine work and study. The programme leads to certification in the teaching qualification equivalent to a degree level qualification in education similar to Bachelor of Science with Education and Bachelor of Arts with Education.
Who May Apply:
Applicants should have a Bachelors degree or above in any field except education, with a minimum GPA of 2.7. Prior experience in teaching may be an added advantage.
How to Apply:
Applicants can obtain Application Forms from the DUCE Faculty of Education or send an email to pgdeduce@gmail.com requesting for the application forms. Application forms can also be downloaded from the DUCE website (http://www.duce.ac.tz). The deadline for receiving application forms is on Friday 25 January 2013.
The application processing fee is TZS 25,000/=payable during the submission of the application materials.
Duration and Fees
The programme will commence on 25 February 2013 and will take 12 months, including a Project Report. The tuition fee for the 2012/2013 academic year is TZS 1,647,500.00 for Tanzanian nationals and US$ 1,600 for foreign students, payable in two equal instalments. Please note that this sum only covers tuition fees payable directly to DUCE and does not include student direct costs such as living expenses, accommodation, registration, etc.
