Claim
A viral image circulating on Social media claims that National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, posted on X (formerly Twitter) saying:
"I will not be coming back to Uganda and I have no problem with @mkainerugaba standing as president of Uganda and from day I have left Ugandan politics everyone for him self now."
The post implies that Bobi Wine has abandoned Ugandan politics and endorsed Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba's presidential ambitions.
What We Know
•A review of Bobi Wine's Verified X account shows no record of such a post. The viral screenshot contains several indicators that it has been fabricated.
•The alleged statement is riddled with grammatical and punctuation errors that are inconsistent with an Official account & Bobi Wine's usual style of communication on his verified social media platforms. The wording also lacks the structure typically seen in his public statements.
•There is no credible media report indicating that Bobi Wine has announced his withdrawal from Ugandan politics or said he would never return to Uganda. Such a declaration would have attracted widespread coverage from major local and international news organizations, but no such reports exist atleast from the local outlets such as Nile post , Daily Monitor .
•Contrary to the post, Bobi Wine has continued to communicate with supporters through his verified social media accounts, commenting on political developments and maintaining his criticism of the government. Neither he nor the National Unity Platform has issued any statement suggesting he has quit politics or endorsed Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
