Tunachokijua(What we Know):
Moses Matovu, 77, a co-founder and longtime leader, saxophonist, vocalist and composer of Uganda's Afrigo Band, was attacked by an assailant in Kibuli, Kampala on the morning of Thursday, September 24, 2026. According to police, Matovu was assaulted at around 5:30 AM near Kibuli Market Zone B in Makindye Division. He was rushed to Kibuli Hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
On Thursday evening, Uganda Police announced the arrest of the prime suspect: 41-year-old Vincent Nsamba, apprehended in Ochange Ward, Yesu Amala, Nansana Division, Wakiso District, following a joint manhunt by intelligence and task force teams.
Claim:
A video and accompanying social media post shared by the X account @Walusimbi0779, "Omusoga Wa Bobi") allege that the suspect who killed Moses Matovu was sent by Bobi Wine, and that the suspect was arrested at the home of Nubian Li
The video frames the arrest as evidence tying Bobi Wine to the killing.
Findings:
The official Uganda Police Force statement, posted on X by @PoliceUg and attributed to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala, states plainly that suspect Vincent Nsamba was arrested in Ochange Ward, Yesu Amala, Nansana Division, Wakiso District a location with no stated connection to Bobi Wine, Nubian Li, or any residence associated with either of them.
No credible police report, court filing, or mainstream news outlet corroborates the claim that Bobi Wine ordered or was otherwise involved in Matovu's death, or that the suspect was arrested at a residence belonging to Nubian Li or any other associate of Bobi Wine.
Verdict: False.
There is no evidence that Bobi Wine sent the suspect who killed Moses Matovu, or that the suspect was arrested at Nubian Li’s home.
