DIASPORA: MKAKATI WA DIASPORA KATIKA DUAL CITIZENSHIP​

Pursuant to our call for the right of dual citizenship for all Tanzanians, the Tanzanian Communities in the United States of America and the Diaspora Council of Tanzanians in America (DICOTA) have agreed to file a petition for this cause to the Constitutional Review Parliament that is now taking place in Dodoma, Tanzania through our Representative Honorable Kadari Singo, who is also a member of the our Diaspora Community and who resides in California. With the highest honor, we invite you to support this petition.

Honorable Kadari Singo is now attending the Constitutional Review Parliament in Dodoma. After consultation with other members of the Parliament and in seeking their support, and after thorough deliberations on how to bring the issue of dual citizenship to the attention of all members of the above-mentioned Parliament, it was decided that a workshop, training or conference should be arranged to lobby to the members of the Parliament and inform them of the necessity and urgency of their supportive votes when the motion of dual citizenship will be tabled.

For that conference, we will need experts on this issue from other parts of Tanzania and abroad (including International Office for Migration - IOM) to attend at a very short notice. We will also need an excellent venue and some refreshments. Moreover, the experts on this issue will need to be paid. Hence, we are looking for at least $25,000 dollars to cover expenses for this event. The plan is to run a workshop/seminar for 3 days targeting different groups of MPs for each day.

We are certain that if the members of the parliament are made to understand our motion, it will be easier for them to vote for dual citizenship. Dual citizenship is an important right that has been denied to Tanzanians since 1964. Thus, we hope that the workshop or conference will provide the members of the Parliament with an opportunity to understand the overall benefits of dual citizenship and why their votes for this cause are imperative. Moreover, we invite you to think about your interests, family and opportunities offered by dual citizenship.

You were to have all these done before the departure of the president mentioned above!!!!!

You are requesting members to think about their interest whike the guy is already attending,what what is the rationale of having him before the agenda is clearly set!!!!!

Mnachangisha hela hizo za nini hamuachi kutafuta ulaji nyinyi maana Mh. Membe ameshangazwa kitendo cha Watu kuchangishana kiholela wakati Wizara Yake inayo hela za kutosha kwa ajili ya kazi hiyo tu na sio kukamuana kienyeji
 
Suala la Dual citizenship kwa maoni yangu halikubaliki hata kidogo. Kwa sababu zifuatazo:
1. Kwa miaka mingi wanadiaspora wa Tanzania wameshindwa kuonesha significant contribution yao kwa taifa, haya mambo ya kusema tutapata exposure na kutuma pesa `ndogondogo' kwa familia yanaweza kufanyika bila hata ya kuwa na uraia wa nchi mbili. Na kwa bahati nzuri kuna sehemu za nchi mathalani Kagera ina watu wako ughaibuni lakini hakuna walichofanya kikaonekana.
2. Kuruhusu dual citizenship kwa nchi kama yetu ambayo miundombinu ya kisheria kuzuia utoroshaji rasilimali haiko sawa, uraia wa nchi mbili utatosa fursa adhimu kwa makundi mengi kunyanyasa wazawa ndani ya nchi hii. Kwa mfano pamoja na kuweka vizuizi kwa wawekezaji wa ardhi nchini bado Watanzania wananyanyaswa, sasa ukiruhusu Makaburu wapate uraia wa Tanzania, au Wakenya au Wachina utakuwa umetengeneza disaster kwa Watanzania wazawa walio wengi.
3. Kwa sasa hatujajipanga kuhakikisha rasilimamali zinalindwa vya kutosha, kwa mfano jaribio la kuruhusu watu wa EAC kupata access ya resources na ajira Tanzania umeona lilivyoleta kinyongo na wasiwasi mkubwa, sasa Je tupo tayari kuruhusu makundi ya wafugaji wa Kinyarwanda kuingia na mamilioni ya mifugo Tanzania wakipewa uraia?
4. Na tusisahau Zanzibar bado ina wasiwasi wa akina sultani kurudi kwa mlango huu wa Dual citizenship, kwa hiyo si sahihi kuweka rehani maisha ya mamilioni ya Wazanzibar hatarini eti unalinda haki ya Wazanzibar kama 1000 wasio kuwa na significant impact kwa uchumi.
5. Just thinking kama viongozi wanaiba pesa na kuwekeza pesa huko Uswisi na New Jersey si ajabu kukaanzishwa mtindo wa kukwapua mali na pesa na Watanzania kisha mtu akakimbilia kulindwa kwenye ile nchi nyingine aliyopewa uraia, tukashindwa kumkamata.
NB: haya ni mawazo yangu wanadiaspora waweke data watuoneshe faida ya sisi kuwaruhusu sio kuleta porojo.
