With the rings in their place on her beautiful fingers, Annette opened the gate and slumped to the ground immediately after it closed behind her and sat with her arms around her knees. She was not sure whether to laugh or cry as the events of the night replayed in her mind.
Like man, she thought to herself. That young man had guts. And a little smile arched her lips. Then reality hit her and she sighed as she watched her beautiful home down the slope. A three bedroomed maisonette, the envy of the small town. To the world, she had everything. Everything it took to make any woman happy. Except for hollowness in her heart. At this point she fought back tears and headed to the door. Alas, her husband wasn't back home and she was delighted. Not that she really cared but she liked to avoid friction between them.
She run her bath and slowly prepared herself for the tub. She added her favourite lavender essential oils and she felt heavenly as she soaked in the tub for what seemed like eternity until she heard the sound of her husband's car engine roaring at the gate. She quickly unplugged the tub dried herself threw a gown over her head and jumped into bed. She certainly didn't want to explain the late night baths or he might sense she wasn't at home.
Luckily for her, in his drunken stupor, he crashed on the couch and snored the early dawn away. Annette sighed with relief and rose to splurge her lavender moisturizer on herself. She took time to write a few sentences in her diary in a language not even the devil could understand. Then it was bedtime for her too.
