backup vs alternate port kwenye RSTP

    Wakuu nadhani wakati umefika tuongeze iteraction kati yetu wana ICT,sasa kwa leo katika pitapita zangu nimekutana nahii mada ambayo imezua msuguano kidogo kwa watu wengi mno nikiwemo mmoja wapo kwani kuna watu wanataka kunibadili ni nini nilikuwa naamini ni right kitech,

    Swali husika ni kuwa kuna tofauti gani kati ya backup port na Alternate port kwenye STP??
    Binafsi bado ninalala kwenye msimamao kuwa Backup port ni port ambayo Switch hutumia pindi Root port(RP) ikiwa down na Alternate Port ni port ambayo Switch hutumia kwenye RSTP au Uplink fast ili kusababbisha coverage ya haraka endapo Designated port ikiwa haipatikani,Switch hujua hili baada ya kumiss baadhi ya BPDU na kuamini kuwa imeshapoteza connection kwenda kwenye Root hivyo Alternative port hutumika provided zote zipo kwenye the same segmant.Hapa nina maana blocking port ndio itakayokuwa alternate port. na si vinginevyo.Hivyo backup port na root port zote lengo lake ni kufikia Root Bridge lakini zipo kwenye segment tofauti.Moja direct connectected to Root bridge(Backup) na nyingine ni Conected to non root(Alternative)
    Tatizo linakuja kuwa Scott moja ya walimu wanaoaminikana Cisco wamekuja anadai kuwa,Backup port ni port ambayo Root bridge hutumia endapo moja kati ya designated imefail na yeye akisema Backup and Alternate ni kitu kimoja ila tofauti ni lugha tu.

    Huku tukikumbuka kuwa Uplinkfast ni standard ya Cisco lakini RSTP ni Engineering Standard,sasa hapa inakuwaje??? Michango wakuu

    "Backup port = Backup to same segment (non-designated)

    Alternate port = Alternate port to different segment towards root (non-root)

    So by that logic, the backup port cannot guarantee it will have a better path towards the root. While it may become the path of choice, the first choice is actually the alternate port. (2nd place to root port)

    Nashukuru kwa ufafanuzi,Scott kimtindo naye amechanganya watu ndio maana hata kwenye blog ya cisco amesema anaenda kulifuatilia then atarudi na jibu,,mimi naona hapa kuna matatizo ya standards tu,kwani hata jana nilikuwa na mwalimu wangu yeye akasema fuata Industry standard,Kama umepitia kwenye document yao hii ya Uplinkfast ya Cisco,wao wanachukulia backup kama link nyingine ambayo itazifikia bridge zilizo kwenye segment na sio Root,So backup kwenye RSTP na ya kwenye(.1d) sio sawa.Kuuhusu Alternate port tunakubaliana.
    Swali linakuja,Redundancy ni kitu kinachopewa kipaombele kwenye any design,sasa endapo mimi nikaamua kuwa na link mbili kati ya Root(ambayo iko kwenye core) na any switch ambayo ipo kwenye distribution/access,sikuziweka kwenye Etherchannel kwakuwa ninataka moja tu ndio ifanye kazi kwa wakati,nikaenable kitu kama VRRP,sasa hii link ambayo ipo standby tutaiitaje???
