Askari walinda Amani wa JWTZ wauawa Darfur

Hali hii inasikitisha. Niliwahi kucomment kwenye thread inayosema JK IWill Hit You.

(Reuters) - Seven international peacekeepers were killed and 17 wounded when they came under heavy fire from a large group of unknown assailants in Sudan's strife-torn Darfur region on Saturday, the peacekeeping force UNAMID said.
The incident took place in an area where peacekeeping is the responsibility of Tanzanian forces, and was the force's worst death toll from a single incident since it was deployed five years ago.
The "extended firefight" happened near Khor Abeche in South Darfur, the African Union/United Nations-led force said in a statement, without confirming nationalities. Two of the 17 wounded soldiers and police officers were female.
Years of international peace efforts have failed to end conflict in Sudan's western region of Darfur, where mainly African tribes took up arms in 2003 against the Arab-led government in Khartoum, which they accuse of discriminating against them.
Violence is down from its peak in 2004-05, but has picked up again this year as government forces, rebels and Arab tribes, which were armed by the government early in the conflict, are now fighting among themselves over resources and land.
Around 300,000 people have been forced to leave their homes in Darfur this year due to fighting, according to the United Nations.
The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir and some aides on charges of masterminding war crimes in Darfur. They deny the charges and refuse to recognise the court.
Events in Darfur are hard to verify as Sudan severely restricts travel by journalists, aid workers and diplomats.

You are absolutely right!!!

It's time for Tanzania to pull out its soldiers from war torn countries where people do not respect the value of life. The liberation of Africa ended when SA got free. We cannot champion the course of peace. Let our sons and sisters come back home as we have failed to guarantee their safety in a foreign country. The cost to our nation is immeasurable and hence we should take action. 5 years is more than enough.

RIP our heroes.

Seven UN peacekeepers have been killed and 17 injured in an attack in the troubled Darfur region of Sudan.
A spokesman for Unamid, a joint African Union-United Nations mission, said the incident happened near the mission's base at Manawashi, north of Nyala.
Unamid gave no details on who carried out the attack, or on the nationalities of the victims - but it happened in an area patrolled by Tanzanian troops.
More than 16,000 Unamid troops are currently based in Darfur.
The mission began in 2007, with a mandate to protected civilians.
Spokesman Christopher Cycmanick told the AFP news agency the incident happened as the peacekeepers were about 25km (16 miles) west from a second Unamid base at Khar Abeche
They had been moving between the sites at the time, he said, without giving further details.
The UN estimates that more than 300,000 people have died in Darfur, mostly from disease, since rebels took up arms in 2003 against the Khartoum government.
