Uwezekano mkubwa ni Xhaka ataanza pamoja na Ceballos kesho

Na mbele yao kucheza Ozil

Xhaka, Arsenal's most experienced head in the centre of midfield, is still expected to start, unless there are any late issues. Ceballos is set to also get the nod in front of the back four, with Mesut Ozil playing slightly further forwards. [@johncrossmirror]

Goalkeeper

Bernd Leno looks sharp in the friendly footage, and he kept a clean sheet in both matches for as long as he was on the pitch. Given he was one of Arsenal’s best players before the break, there’s no reason he shouldn’t start here.

Defence

Kieran Tierney is back, starting both friendlies, and he should replace Bukayo Saka in the starting lineup. Hector Bellerin will certainly start on the other side, given Cedric Soares’ recent black eye temporarily incapacitating him.

The centre-back pairing is a bit of a mystery. We could probably see any combination of David Luiz, Pablo Mari and Shkodran Mustafi. Although I’d say it’s unlikely Rob Holding or Sokratis Pastathopoulos start, that’s not impossible either.
My gut feeling is that Arteta will opt for Luiz and Mustafi. The first time around, I thought Mari would partner Luiz, but it’s worth noting Arsenal didn’t use that pairing in either of the recent friendly matches.

A staff member of Arsenal on the club returning:

"I forgot how fun training is under Mikel. You saw people smile again, people who looked happy to come into work again, people happy to train again.” [@TheAthleticUK]

Mikel Arteta on summer transfers:

“The plans I had obviously wasn’t considering the coronavirus & all the side effects that has, but we know what we have to do to improve the team. Whether we’ll be able to the way we want will be a different story.”

Arteta:

“My focus right now is just to improve the team, get the results that we need to give us the best chance possible to get into Europe & convince the players this is the right environment for them.” #afc

Josh Kroenke on Arteta interview:

"We spoke about club culture and setting a new tone. He told me some of the thoughts that he had and ideas they had done at City. It’s going to take some time — we’ve got a long road ahead of us. But the culture is changing." [@TheAthleticUK]

Josh Kroenke on Arsenal's culture:

"Culture becomes cliche at times but it’s a very real thing. Mikel is making an imprint on the club that should hopefully play out over the next several years with improved results on the pitch, but it starts with a foundation.” [@TheAthleticUK]

The players tend not to use the term “boss”, which was the traditional greeting for Arteta’s predecessors. Now it’s “Mister” or “Mikel”. [@TheAthleticUK]

Under Arteta, Arsenal are under instruction to commit an opposition player before making a pass, thus taking a man out of the game. He's focusing on co-ordinating the press, ensuring players remain switched on out of possession. Its a plan players believe in. [@TheAthleticUK]
