TEST RESULTS ON THE OPENBOX V8-COMBO

Hi Friends,
Today I did some tests on the OpenBox V8 on the 7 East D*g*t**k goodies around 1pm. The western skies were completely overcast with dense rain clouds about to rain. With my 130Cm offset plus the yellow Quad Eurostar QP4-Gold LNB connected to the V8, I am receiving the following at Nairobi (S=signal %; Q=Quality %):

The following are stable; SD are watchable, no scratches:

10804-H-30000: Encrypted HD package; S90, Q34-35.
10804-V-29900: Bloomberg, Fox sports, E2; S90, Q36-39.
10928-H-30000: Muvi-Tv package (Zambia) – (a TP “stolen by Muvi from D*g*t*k); S92, Q52-52.
10928-V-30000: Encrypted HD package; S89, Q38-39.
10845-H-30000: Encrypted HD package; S89, Q30-32.
10845-V-30000: Extreme sports, BBC Ent., VH1, Mezzo; S89, Q30-32.
10762-V-30000: TRT Mux (FTA); S90, Q31-32.
10887-H-30000: Encrypted HD package; S90, Q40-41.
10887-V-30000: Encrypted HD package; S90, Q40-41.
11471-H-30000: MTV-Hits, Disney Junior; S82, Q26-28.
11513-H-29900: MTV-Europe, Eurosport 2; S82, Q27-28.
11554-H-30000: Nickelodeon Snr., ID.X, Discovery Chan., Discovery Sci., Duck; S78-80, Q24-27.
11596-H-30000: Nickelodeon Jnr., Eurosport News; S76, Q25-27.
11637-H-30000: MGM Movies, Baby First; S76, Q25-26.

12644-H-30000: Azam Tv Package; S90, Q70.
10721-V-30000: Zambia Muvi Mux; S90, Q65.

The following are unstable / scratching / not watchable at S70, Q15-25. However, if weather is clear sky-blue, there is 80-90% chance they will stream in stable:

11678-H-30000: Animal Planet, Disney Chan., Eurosport International.
11668-V-30000: Encrypted HD package.
11456-V-20050: Kanal B,
11492-V-30000: Idman Azerbaycan (soccer channel).
11534-V-30000: Cartoon Network English.
11575-V-30000: Playboy, Hustler.
11617-V-30000: History, Nat-Geo

CONCLUSION:
The V8 has a more sensitive tuner than the SRT4922 (and 4950H) when tested under similar weather conditions. In this weather, only the following two TPs were stable and watchable on the SRT4922, namely: 10845-V-30000, 10804-V-29900.
Any TP registering Q25% or higher on the V8 is stable and watchable.

WAY FORWARD: Now changing my mind about importing a 240Cm Offset from China …….!

Not yet connected the UHF aerial to test DVB-T2 capabilities. Tests scheduled for today evening.

Did you say its more sensitive than 4950M/H on 7E EUROPE BEAM?I'm using 4950H ,240 PM DISH and some tps like 11554H30000 ,11678H 30000 & 11471H30000 are very stable during the day but as from 8pm until 7am scratchy .I'm not interested with its T2 Turner because I'm hooked on 62°E & 70.5°E receiving the locals in GLORIUS HD especially the ADN PACKAGE.Last but not least just go for 240 cm OFFSET which happens to be more powerful than 240 PRIMEFORCUS

DVB-T2 TEST RESULTS ON THE OPENBOX V8-COMBO

Finalised tuning the DVB-T2 section. Both tuners use the same Graphic User Interface which is better than the not-so-interesting GUI found on the DVB-T2 boxes from River-road shops. Once the channels are scanned, they are listed along those from the satellites. Hence you can move them and mix them with the satellite ones at will; rename, delete, etc. The DVB-T2 tuner has great sensitivity too. What's more? the cable from the UHF antenna is fixed via an F-Connector hence it is firm.

Another interesting feature with this box is the ability to use it together an IP camera. Hence you can hide a camera somewhere in your living room to enable recording of what goes around your house while you are away ....! Of course you will have to connect some external hard-drive to the V8. Another feature known as DNLA will enable you to connect your smart-phone to the V8 via wireless link, to enable you to watch a movie via a big screen.
Pardon me for the not-so-digital pictures below.

Thanks so much for the research Nash. Well illustrated. It is not a secret that it has an upper hand compared to strong receivers due to its tuner sensitivity, terrestrial feature,IP camera e.t.c. After all, there is no harm adding it to the list of decoders. That is the spirit of FTA, putting facts on the table to convince people beyond reasonable doubt. Keep it up bro.

Thanks Nash. That's deep and well explanation. Earlier on you said that it didn't need any software that's from the dealer you bought yours from.
