Hi Ranksat, I have never succeeded. Unfortunately the 22Khz switch is not available locally which the essential piece. It needs to sit between the diseqc switches for this set up to work. I ordered some from aliexpress.com but they sent me wrong things.

You mean like this one here:

9 March 2015 –

The EUTELSAT 8 West B satellite of Eutelsat Communications (NYSE Euronext Paris: ETL) is in the final stretch of manufacturing and on track for launch by an Ariane 5 rocket in mid-2015. The 5.8 tonne satellite has finished launch environment tests and is now going through a final round of payload performance checks at Thales Alenia Space's factory in Cannes.

EUTELSAT 8 West 8 will be launched to the 7/8° West neighbourhood selected by over 1,000 TV channels to reach into an unmatched audience of 52 million homes. Eutelsat and Nilesat have progressively built a comprehensive broadcast infrastructure at this position, comprising satellites designed for Direct-to-Home reception in a vast footprint stretching from Morocco to the Gulf. Both operators have steadily brought new capacity on line to meet thriving demand for digital channels and the acceleration of High Definition Television. The next phase of expansion at the most popular neighbourhood in the Middle East and North Africa comes with EUTELSAT 8 West B.
In addition to delivering increased Ku-band capacity for the MENA region and a pan-African payload in C-band, EUTELSAT 8 West B will host a new generation of advanced functions that will raise the bar of performance, flexibility and signal security. The new functions are focused on delivering three main benefits:
Mitigating the effects of interference by increasing control over uplink frequencies to a satellite;
Increasing the number of active channels by optimising a satellite payload's use of the electrical power generated by its solar panels;
Expanding options for repositioning satellites with frequency agile command receivers.
Mitigating interference
This function involves embarking new-generation frequency converters behind the satellite's receive antennas. This will put Eutelsat in the unique position to be able to change the frequency of an uplink signal without any impact on the downlink frequency received by user terminals, marking a major breakthrough in the bid for continuity of service for broadcast signals jammed by rogue uplink signals.

Optimising distribution of electrical power

This technology involves embarking a new generation of equipment in the payload's high power amplification system so that the electrical power used by a channel can be set according to its actual requirement at a given frequency. As the number of channels that can be operated simultaneously is directly linked to the amount of energy produced by solar panels, this innovation brings with it the potential to increase active channels.

More flexible fleet deployment options

This innovation uses a new generation of command receivers that can be set to multiple options, giving enhanced operational flexibility.

Dear All,
Your forum looks very impressive; lots of know-how seems to be present. That will be of great help for me. Let me introduce my project. For students in Congo DR, I want to set up a sattelite TV set-up. Since I have no experience at all about African TV my question is as follows. I want to offer RTNC ( Congolese television ) and TV5 Monde Afrique as well. All should be FTA since the school has no money to spend.... I found out that EUTELSAT 16A covers both, has somebody experience with EUTELSAT 16A; maybe there are better solutions.
I would like to use Ku band since I like to buy all the SAT Gear in EUROPE (STR4007 and a 110cm TRIAX antenna). Can somebody provide usefull information,
With my kindests regards,
Clochard

Clochard. Bonjour de Nairobi. Nabbing this bird (Eutelsat 16A) will be a walk in the park for you. Trust me. The beam is a sub-saharan Africa one, which means you will be able to pull it down with the equipment you have stated (is the srt4007 from Strong Technologies?) with ease. Try to see if you combine this bird with Amos 5 at 17E, which also has some good goodies.
See the links below for the list of goodies
Eutelsat 16A Eutelsat 16A at 16.0°E - LyngSat
Amos 5: Amos 5 at 17.0°E - LyngSat

Bonne chance Monsieur

Dear Kungu,

You showed an impressive list. I would like to ask what's your experience with EUTELSAT 16A. For a schoolproject in Congo DR (Bandundu) I would like to set up a sattelite television set up FTA. I would like to receive RTNC and TV5 Monde Afrique as well. I would like to use Ku band since I have to buy all the sat gear in Europe. Is EUTELSAT 16A a good choice, or do you propose something better?
With my kindests regards,
Clochard

Merci beaucoup,
I made a typo. The receiver is indeed STRONG SRT 7004 and covers only Ku band.
Do I need a second LNB for AMOS 5 ?
Amicallement,
Clochard

Enchanté Clochard!

Your project is feasible given your target. The STRONG SRT 7004 is good to go. You however intrigue me from a once beaten twice shy and logistic perspective to ask if there are no 110cm dishes in DRC. I once freighted a 130cm dish from North Africa to Kampala for a cost of about $400 only to find similar dishes in Kampala at $75.

It's possible to receive Eutelsat 16A & Amos 5 using the same LNB as these satellites are "too" close.
<<Sinon, si on peut se tutoyer, Gich t'as déjà orienté à travers les liens, d'autres possibilités des chaines en clair et en français sur les deux satellites>>. If there's something else you wish to be elaborated, <<Nous sommes à votre service>>!

EUTELSAT 16A is not only a good choice but it's at the moment the PERFECT choice <<pour tes exigences>>.

Hi members of our jamii family.can someone with alink on how to get champion tv receiver report to the house.i real need it.

I prefer to buy all my gear in Europe; a 110cm offset TRIAX costs about 75 EUR. It needs some modifications since the 'European Model' does not cover the African elevation angle. I would take it together with my luggage, so we do not have extra transportation costst...

Hey it's my guess that you guys are taking prescriptions as you should. Having said that am in a fix of trips up and down to and from the roof(as I am on my own in the ailment bay) trying to finetune the nilesats to fit in the mbc(s) and the BEin(s).
Of the whole situation I seem to be making no headwy, what kud be the best transponder to base my roof-based ventures?.
Thanks for the chance to reduce mileage.
