Great. I still think SRT4922 is the benchmark and is more realistic in terms of signal quality, for 7E on 4922 channels stabilise at 60% which i think is 75% and above on 4950. The real test is when there is bad weather, you will judge on how fast the signal drops....VIVA FTA!!

Hi asas members.i have 240cm(8ft) eurostar pf dish, ground mounted,srt 4922, fuji gold lnb, location south c nairbi.tracked and locked on 7e euro beam.my problem is this, tp 11512h29900 can only be viewed if I use another unpowered decorder with loop out to feed my srt 4922 lñb input.

if I connect the srt 4922 directly to the lnb, I get signal of 95%,quality of 32%.this applies to eurosports, e entertainment, natgeo, animal planet etc. Currently am getting 95% signal with quality of 72% using the loop out of astrovox decoder with above mentioned channels stable. What is the problem?srt 4922 tuner problem or something am not doing right? Currently on patch 171 from crosat.Please advice.

spiggz, that was my problem as mentioned above, now with srt4950h connected directly to the diseq, then lnb, my signals stabilised and % quality increased significantly. Pls note that this was jst with decorder swap, disconnected loop out as earlier outlined.
my thoughts are 1.4922 is very good, but for Fringe reception, especially on weak tps, the 4950h outperforms the 4922 by a huge margin.

2.eurosport 2 was scratching at 58/60%, bt now is stable at 88%.....
lets wait for the rainy season and see.

SUCCESS .At last am a happy ASAS.thanks wakariru for the srt 4950h. All tps on 7a euro beam jumped by 15%...stable at 90% signal and quality for my troublesome tps and that is without tweeking dish or lnb...just a decorder swap from 4922 to 4950h. Noticed a slight deterioration of quality on ses5 bt will buy black ultra and tweek.please refer to my earlier post detailing my problems.
So for the gurus..is the 4950h tuner better than 4922? Any way got an almost new(3weeks old) 4922 for sale.6k, latest patch 171,box,all accessories included,6 ft eurostår pf dish(3weeks) old 6k.inbox with ur offers.

Welcome Mr Socho,thats what ASAS brotherhood is made of,meanwhile i think for ses 5 you can use starlife KU LNB for ksh 350 and works fine.

Last week I travelled to Kampala to attend a schoolmate's wedding and I took the chance to shop around for some cheap satellite gear. Among the few items I managed to buy was this HD combo satellite and terrestrial receiver that is so small you wonder where all the technology is hidden. It measures about 200mm in width and is much smaller than a "GoNowhere" decoder from BB.

It has 2 tuners inside: one DVB-S2 HD satellite tuner and the DVB-T2 HD terrestrial tuner. In other words it can receive both local digital terrestrial channels using a simple TV aerial and all satellite channels using a satellite dish.

The terrestrial tuner is so sensitive that you need only little signal to lock on all the T2 channels available in your area. The satellite tuner is equally sensitive but what I treasure most is its BISS key edit feature which has easily enabled me to watch IRIB VARZESH, IRIB TV3 and PTV Sports for EPL matches.

It also has key edit features for other encryptions. The receiver is also PVR capable and it can play virtually any AV & photo/picture file from my vast laptop collections.

Unfortunately the receiver does not come with an HDMI cable in the box but I was able to buy one in the same shop for the equivalent of Kshs: 330/=. The receiver itself cost me an equivalent of Kshs:8,000/=. See some pictures below.[/

mmmh so K24 and KBC have reverted to analogue terrestrial broadcasting without consulting CAK..the Kenyan soap opera continues...
Meanwhile the same authority has slapped a punitive fine totaling to 2million Khs to the African Digital Network for running misleading ads ans also to give back their self provisioning digital license.

these are Interesting developments indeed.. I think this CAK has mishandled this whole digital migration thing shadily ..and everyone can see that the Chinese have been given preferential treatment .
