African Satellite World and Sat Gear

CRTV and 51 TV Congo. Both streaming the AFNEX signal of the AFCON. I'm getting both on 7e. Commentary is in French though. Amuse-toi (enjoy)
Also on EuroSport 11679H 30000 @7E
Strong 4922 Q70% on 8ft offset dish in Nairobi, commentary is in English. Soo!!! Much free.

Last week I travelled to Kampala to attend a schoolmate's wedding and I took the chance to shop around for some cheap satellite gear. Among the few items I managed to buy was this HD combo satellite and terrestrial receiver that is so small you wonder where all the technology is hidden. It measures about 200mm in width and is much smaller than a "GoNowhere" decoder from BB.

It has 2 tuners inside: one DVB-S2 HD satellite tuner and the DVB-T2 HD terrestrial tuner. In other words it can receive both local digital terrestrial channels using a simple TV aerial and all satellite channels using a satellite dish. The terrestrial tuner is so sensitive that you need only little signal to lock on all the T2 channels available in your area. The satellite tuner is equally sensitive but what I treasure most is its BISS key edit feature which has easily enabled me to watch IRIB VARZESH, IRIB TV3 and PTV Sports for EPL matches. It also has key edit features for other encryptions. The receiver is also PVR capable and it can play virtually any AV & photo/picture file from my vast laptop collections.

Unfortunately the receiver does not come with an HDMI cable in the box but I was able to buy one in the same shop for the equivalent of Kshs: 330/=. The receiver itself cost me an equivalent of Kshs:8,000/=. See some pictures below.

I have seen and even tested that receiver at a friend's house and it is surprisingly very good considering its simplicity in looks and operation. Even picture quality is at par if not better than SRT 4922. Local terrestrial channels are now more enjoyable when upscaled to near-HD via HDMI cable.

I might consider trading in my Openbox V8 combo for this new receiver. By the way, what is its model name? I have an OPENBOX V8 Combo that boasts IPTV, YOUPORN, YOUTUBE and CCcam, 3G,LAN and WiFi capability but what I need most is BISS and other keys editing for it.

Services that use internet are almost useless in our region unless bundle rates come down significantly. I reviewed the Openbox in my post # 10719 dated 24/12/2014 on page 536 of this forum.

dejumbo,

Incidentally I was in Kampala recently and if only I knew this existed, I would have hunted it down and stuffed it in my hand luggage.
Dejumbo, could you do a favor to your brother on the other side of the border and check how it can get to Nairobi and at what cost?

I believe we are a number who would be interested. Or does any ASAS know if this receiver is available in Kenya?

Hi asas members.i have 240cm(8ft) eurostar pf dish, ground mounted, srt 4922, fuji gold lnb, location south c nairbi.tracked and locked on 7e euro beam.my problem is this, tp 11512h29900 can only be viewed if I use another unpowered decorder with loop out to feed my srt 4922 lñb input.

If I connect the srt 4922 directly to the lnb, I get signal of 95%,quality of 32%.this applies to eurosports, e entertainment, natgeo, animal planet etc. Currently am getting 95% signal with quality of 72% using the loop out of astrovox decoder with above mentioned channels stable. What is the problem?srt 4922 tuner problem or something am not doing right? Currently on patch 171 from crosat. Please advice.

Dejumbo,

Does this combo support PVR, Wifi and software updates? I have contacted the dealer who has sent me images of it. Apparently even the package does not have the model name. I have also noticed it has only a front USB port

I have an OPENBOX V8 Combo. Do you, by any chance, know how to access BISS keys on this receiver?
I would appreciate it if you helped me on this issue before I decide to put it on OLX.

By the way, what is your location? Also, how does one contact you for CCcam?
Your advertized site (Receiver Bomba za DSTV) seems to be down (not responding).
