African Satellite World and Sat Gear

African Satellite World and Sat Gear

Soon to be launched in kenya bamba tv claiming to offer kenyan tv stations free for life plus over 50 international channels anybody with info?
Did you mean "Bomba Tv". Bomba Tv is owned by Radio Africa group of which Kiss Tv is an affiliate. Bomba Tv began test transmission early this year and are to launch an FTV (free to view) decoder in the likes of OVHD, but DVB-T2 in nature. Already stations on their platform currently running include the Church Channel, KTN, Press Tv, France 24 etc. Is a promising distributor in my opinion.

Nope, it's Bamba. The frequency is that used by Bomba, so guess it's a rebranding. I noticed the name change after doing a new scan. Has the likes of NHK, DW and others.

Yeah, they have re-branded to Bamba. I am receiving them on DVB-T2 STB. See my snapshots above

People, Zuku has come to Zambia and I want to buy a decoder. I once watched the channels for a week when they were open those days when they were on NSS 12 and I liked them very much. But on this forum from my East African friends I don't hear anything good about ZUKU, only how bad they are but no specifics given. I want to know, what exactly is bad with ZUKU? and secondly is there a channel on ZUKU that shows Nigerian movies? Madam asked about that when I shared my plan. Kindly advise.

I would say they have vastly improved from what they were a few years ago. I bought their decoder SAS603 recently. It can recieve Fta channels as long as they are on the same sat (can't do disec switching unfortunately). It has an HDMI out. Can organize channels into favorite groups etc. Overall a much more decent decoder compared to competition. To cap it all customer care responds to email queries- a rarity in africa.

Thanks. what about Nigerian or African movies in English? Are they there on Zuku?

I am getting it on DVB-T2 STB. They are on test basis. So far I can only get two Kenyan channels, Ki*s TV HD and Ka*s TV. All the other channels seem foreign. A search on this TV company returns a station in Lithuania.

Here are some snapshots of the stations on DVB-T2

Maybe before launching they should give proper websites to enable us arrive at a conclusion

Hello imei2012, I have mine at Mwiki using a 90cm and getting all of them on Nilesat. At Sunton you're better placed to get all the 19 channels with a little bit of tweaking than Mwiki which is down the valley.

I noticed a huge consignment of satellite dishes arriving through Jkia this week. My curiosity led me to track down the consignee and a communication via e-mail ensued. I enquired about the availability and cost of a virgin 2.4m offset. I have attached a screen shot of their response for you to ponder. As for me, that is the end of that conversation! Not ever letting curiosity get the better of me again; EVER! ImageUploadedByJamiiForums1418990657.488637.jpg

Better import a Toyota probox with that amount. Guess fabrication can be cheaper.

What is interesting is that unlike all the others, the 4672 is an SD. I wonder what the manufacturer had in mind to release an SD receiver in December 2014. Market segmentation perhaps?

I think are targetting those customers with limited resources in terms of FTA.You find the HD boxes are more expensive and does not make sense owning one and none of your channel list contain an HD channel and you do not even own an HD TV.

Even with the love for free things read FTA, I would rather pay dstv premium and enjoy 38 months of stress free entertainment or 310 months of azam. Just out of curiosity where do you draw the line and how free is FTA if it means spending colossal amounts of money and time on roofs some which are dangerous?

all my dishes are operating from the ground, only a single dish is on the roof, ASAS (acute satellite addiction syndrome) is just like PlayStation, you can choose to spend your whole day there, you can decide to get rid of your older games and get new ones. above all, some of us takes it more like an educational HOBBY, if you have space and equipment, ASAS saves money, I don't see what will ever make me go for ANY pay tv, whether terrestrial or satellite. if you are OK with whatever content you get from your pay TV, its ok. I can't at the moment spend a dime on pay TV rather go for bigger dishes and latest STBs.
