Hallo, for strong 4950M,

Save software in USB(empty) flash drive and rename it as "Rom.bin" Insert the USB into the receiver. Switch main power ON while pressing several times (2 or 3 times) the "Power" key on remote control. Receiver will auto detect the software and download it. Report back if successful.

Download the software loader from crosat site, then use computer and rs232 cable to flash the stb. This works for all decoders.

16k is a lot for an ovhd
Hi guys. On Saturday I tried to talk sense into Riwara electronics to import the so called OVHD decoders pre-activated. The man promised to look into the matter if viable. Hope he buys the idea.

That means your stb can't see the SW file on your flash disk.
This may be because you might not have saved it there in the first place.
Or if you did, you did not put it in the "root" and you left it somewhere in a folder.
Or you saved it as zip and your stb cannot unzip it (It's not supposed to).

You should use this file "SRT4950_SRT4950M_V2.26-20131218.bin" which
you can download from the official STRONG site and save it on your flash disk.
After reviving your stb, you can then patch it to your heart's content.

POLITE NOTICE!!!
For those who stays, visits or plans to visit South
Africa
and in return you decide to buy an Explorer DSTV
decoder there because of price of which here in Kenya
goes @28k and SA is approximately 15k.
We kindly advise you not to buy from there because
those receivers are not registered on our platform and
can not work here in Kenya or in eastern Africa of
which
we normally use W7 and their's are registered on is20.
Even though it's the same company multichoise they
don't work in some regions same as we don't access
to
some channels and like ppl from S.A.
Most of our clients have been having same issue and
there's nothing DSTV Kenya can do to help in such
situations you'll just end up wasting your money.

Seems like CNN HD came and went.. Its presently not available from my end on the said 11996Mhz TP..

In the Meantime could those with patched up SRT 4922, confirm if Star Movies and Starworld series are back on TP 12169 Mhz. I'm seeing 2 BISS encrypted Channels

Fox Movies and FOX is also back on that TP. its a lot clearer that whats on Eutelsat 7 W

You can watch World Cup on Apstar 7 at 76.5E with picture quality close to HD.The channel is TV Maldives(From Maldives Country) tp 4030V6312.I did not expect but when the Netherlands game started it was with English Commentary.I think this is the best alternative to SABC1 and PTV Sports. The channel is coded under Biss available via google.1.8m dish will pull it down.Happy hunting and later viewing WC. Thanks for your invaluable info Dejumbo
It is very helpful.
my SRT 4950M is alive again. just patched it with new software and enjoying d***t*rk goodies and ptv sports without adding biss keys.

I am using Astrovox vsr-8900 Hd pvr and am not able to get frequencies with 8psk module. How can I be able to get those channels?

I downloaded "SRT4950_SRT4950M_V2.26-20131218.bin" from official strong site and renamed it "rom.bin" and followed the method you provided earlier.

Katiklo / Regiment jey,
Suppose my SRT4922 is currently loaded with the latest version 159P software. If I now load the 'original' software from the Strong Website, say "SRT4922A_Old_GUI_134_140303.ssu (YouTube + new features)" or "SRT4922_134_140306" ….. Will it work or the decoder might get fried? Has any JF member tried this 'experiment'? Thanks.

Meanwhile #Magazetini . I dont see it happening though

Pay TV operators might soon be forced to sell their treasured premium content to rivals once a new regulation sponsored by the Communications Authority (CA) comes into force. The draft regulation by the authority seeks to end exclusivity to premium programmes for TV channels in the country. The move could see some of the operators lose their edge in the Kenyan market, where they hold exclusive rights to air content. If the regulations go through in the form that the authority is proposing, Mutlichoice’s DSTV will take a major hit given that it might be compelled to share with its competitors rights to air such content as the English Premier League, which has a huge following locally and aired exclusively on its Supersport channels.
