African Satellite World and Sat Gear

am on it,can i get help??

Hi. What is the problem with your 4930? if it still works, just keep using it! microsoft stopped suport for WinXP, but millions of users still use their computers . The computers never switched off.

Thanks FTA-Nash. But right now I am looking for a Technosat HD MPEG4 receiver. From what I have noticed from my very first Technosat T888, these decoders are built with quality in mind plus ease of use and with an OSD that you can read from further away unlike the astrovox 9000. Plus it has the beeping sound thing, a feature that has made me not sell mine even after some offers. The only downside is that its an MPEG2 decoder.

Where can I get a Technosat HD MPEG4 receiver?

That was eurostar, with offices in nairobery, not Technosat. sorry about that. Best you go with Mtuko2's directions. and report back!

That's Nairobi for you, and sadly, the rest of Kenya too. Most people are in business not because that's what they wanted to do but because they lacked something else to do. For most, business was nowhere near their career choices and as a result most don't bother to know their products or their line of business fully. You end up being, as the customer, the one educating them on their products and services ........ Back to FTA.

Well said. A new class of "satellite gadgets businessmen" has arisen in Nairobi. All you need to do is rent a small 'side-walk' shop / stall in a popular dingy backstreet, obtain some half a million shillings from a willing financier, follow hundreds of other like-minded Kenyan colleagues to China to show you where to buy the stock, fly back to Nairobi .... hire two 'clue-less' sales ladies to sell the stuff for you while you concentrate on other 'emerging business opportunities', launch a spirited marketing campaign (if any), and ........ bingo! You are in business!

I have noticed that most of the DVB-T2 decoders on sale in Nairobi, though having different names, come loaded with the same GUI (graphic user interface) / software. Similar remote control too. If you look inside you will find that they have the same chip-set. It's only the body and name that look different. Now you cannot differentiate a 'Rockdale' from a 'Samsutech' or even a 'Skylife'!
I guess, guys are approaching the same Chinese factories to customize / assemble decoders for them; then bring them over to the Communications Authority of Kenya (former CCK) to "Type-Approve" the gadget. When you switch on the decoders, the 'welcome page' even has a CCK logo and "approved by CCK" inscribed! .... Bingo! ... We are in Business!

Eurostar Group for those of us looking to buy dishes etc. eurostar list them on their site and have an office in nairobi Eurostar Kenya Limited., Kenya. Tel : +254 711988303. Find out if they can bring in what you want, at the right price of course.

That is what it is. That practice is learnt from manufacturing. They sell you a blank and you can call it anything you want: case in point, the chinese motorbikes. Even DVB-S/S2 boxes have had the same trend, for so long.
Ever heard of Jtag? If you can id the chipset on your cheap receiver and RAM etc are smae as the expensive/desired SRT model, you reprogram yours with the SRT software. :msela:
The tools are there. Just the effort and guts to burst your perfectly working stb and take a peek is the obstacle

Well said my brother. Go out knowing what you want and do not settle for anything less .my Fta family !
Does 4950h support terrestrial -T2? platform? what's the use of rf slot behind it?

what you call the RF slot is actually the normal socket where you plug in a 75 ohm coax cable connector as used on old VCR's and TV's. They called these sockets RF OUT those days and still do. The socket is a legacy thing(backward compatibility). Some of us still have the wooden cabinet telly with no A/V socket, let alone SCART or HDMI. Or if you want to plug in your old terestrial antenna and use the said wooden tubed phillips 27 inch relic(because the picture is so cool, and the sound is "warm").

The zuku dish seems to me to be awfully small for the task:A S 39:. But that be my opinion. Besides, there is the hassle of fabricating the requisite lnb holder for the dish, and looking for the elusive scalar ring :behindsofa:.
If i were to do all that work, i'd go for a bigger dish, 120cm or more, like i would like to do. Then i am sure to "catch":croc: more transponders.

Watch more English movies on Dubai TV HD on Yahsat-1A (11824 H 27500). Check also Dubai TV HD on Eutelsat 7 West A at 7.3W (11430 V 27500). Best time to get the English movies is in the evening.

Using 1.3 offset and I point 68e getting southafrica beam tp:11514/28750/v at 35-40% using srt 4922 but can't watch coz sig. is too low.any help pls.I'm in western Kenya.(Siaya)

Karibu sana...from my experience ronga despite being "abroad" is a vantage point for hunting them birds. First things first, can you access flat grounds, ama you live on flats...this will help you know the dish size you need to buy. Thereafter, budget yako inakaa aje? are you out for the EPL, ama unataka movies, nat geo and such - this will inform the choice of decoder. Once you answer these issues satisfactorily, you have made 290 steps to the 300 step journey. :loco::loco:
Jibu haya alafu we point you in the right direction

Still a newbie even in this blog. I should have replied earlier had I set notifications for this topic.
Anyway, I acquired a 90cm and 1.8 m dish which has Eurostar ES-21 LNBF. I am yet to set up the 1.8m at the rooftop of a flat. I am using Astrovox VSR 9000 Premier. I am for documentaries. EPL not so much but am heading there. Priority is nat geo and movies. I have been reading so much discussions on Eutelsat 28.2, 7E. By the way, i also ordered C-band holder arm I have and can modify to fit Ku band lnb. I am aiming to nab more than 1 satellite for optimal utlisation. For the budget, sema tu watu wajipange🙂.
Thanks.

Hi. From their site, they only have upto 165cm offset, then [h=5]6 FEET 6 PANEL - POLAR MOUNT[/h]and [h=5]8 FEET MESH - POLAR MOUNT. those are prime focus,in our language. click on the link i provided. it takes you straight to them:whistle:[/h]

Hello WanaJamii been reading this thread for a while and i have a quick question. What would be the best Decoder for both AD and BeIN? i reckon the HUMAX IR300HD..but wouldn't mind an experienced view on the same. Also where in KE can i get this decoder.

Each of them has a specific decoder. They dont share. If u need both services then u have to buy both decoders. Thats how i understand it unless someone thinks otherwise
