Intelsat has announced that the African direct-to-home operator MultiChoice is leveraging Intelsat capacity to expand the reach of its DTT offering in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Under the agreement, MultiChoice, a pioneer in the Sub-Saharan African market, will expand its C-band capacity on Intelsat 904 at 60 degrees East to distribute content to its terrestrial towers for DTT services.
Intelsat 904 enables MultiChoice to further expand its DTT GOtv product offering to countries in Sub-Saharan Africa where it is already present, including Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Zambia, Namibia and Malawi, and to target new countries.

"Intelsat is our primary partner for media satellite solutions in Africa, serving as our platform of choice for our Southern African direct-to-home (DTH) services and our DTT offerings.
With Intelsat, we are able to broaden our reach in Sub-Saharan Africa and deliver more affordable and differentiated programming to the region," said Nico Meyer, CEO MultiChoice Africa.

The above sat is the new addition to Eutelsat fleet....after nabbing a few transponders from Badr I gave it a short.....
I got all the transponders including the ones hosting the B*IN packages.....In Kabete East Africa sing a 150cm offset! :biggrin:

Judging by the footprint it can be received all over Kenya but for our Tanzanian brothers you may need upto 3M antennae...Am getting a signal strength of 66% on the available transponders...

Es’Hail-1 went ‘live’ on March 11th with its anchor customer the Al Jazeera-backed beIN Sport cluster of channels, and it is beIN Sport which Es-HailSat’s CEO Ali Al Kuwari said he expected to show demonstration telecasts of the world cup in 4K/Ultra-HDTV.
Es-HailSat-1 transmits from 25.5/26 degrees East orbital position, alongside Arabsat.

“It will obviously be limited to the number of people who own 4K displays, but I also expect it to be shown in the shopping Malls, as well as in high-end retail stores,” said Al Kuwairi. “People need to see the difference it makes.”

Es’hailSat, the Qatar Satellite Company has issueda Request for Proposal (RFP) for the design and manufacture of the company’s second satellite, Es’hail 2.

The new satellite will be positioned at the 26 degrees East hotspot position for TV broadcasting and significantly adds to the company’s ability to provide high quality, premium DTH television content across the Middle East and North Africa.

Es’hail 2 will have Ku-band and Ka-band capabilities and will provide TV distribution and government services to strategic stakeholders and commercial customers who value broadcasting and communications independence, interference resilience, quality of service and wide geographical coverage.

Moreover, Es’hail 2 will provide the first Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation (AMSAT) geostationary communication capability that links Brazil to India in one singlehop and in realtime.
It will allow also the AMSAT community to validate and demonstrate their DVB standard.

Proposals for Es’hail 2 are due no later than April 30, 2014, and Es’hailSat will manage the tender and contract process which will be awarded through full and open competition. Es’hail 2 is expected to be launched at the end of 2016.

Ali Al Kuwari, CEO of Es’hailSat, commented: “With the success of our first satellite Es’hail 1 we are delighted to move forward with our satellite procurement program me.

I can confirm that Nat Geo Gold is open on Startimes under DVB-T2 (DTT) here in Uganda.
I am using SRT 5430 HD DVB-T2 Terrestrial receiver.
