but anyway bottom line to get good reliable signals point is to always ensure pole is upright and perpendicular (90 degrees) to the roof or ground. A cheap simpe tool as a spirit level always comes in handy.
On another note, I have seen photos of fiber glass V-sat dishes with stands that are not drilled on rooftops. Some are even held in place using just concrete slabs.
in your case, because of the base metals lengths we short you had to "rawl-bolt" on to the roof. so thats understandable
On the meter, I personally use the inbuilt buzzer that comes with the Satlink Meter. Usually strap the meter round my neck with spanners at hand. Once the beeb is loud enough indicating a lock, id tighten the nuts then, proceed and fine tune, while looking at the meter readings.
