African Satellite World and Sat Gear

Your lnb should be at the exact point the original block up convertor and down convertor were (what you were calling a transponder) infact you shouldn't have removed the arm that was holding it. You should have just found a way of fixing an ordinary lnbf on to the existing arm after removing the 'transponder'

transponder
tranˈspɒndə,trɑːnˈspɒndə/
noun
  1. a device for receiving a radio signal and automatically transmitting a different signal.
To call it transponder wasn't that much off the mark.

Ooh!! someone took fta Channels encrypted and put them for sale on another tp in the same sat on the same beam?

What a genius business man!
i guess so..and i intend to hunt and see if i can nab them on my rudimentary setup

Inside the cband lnb there are the two probs, and then there is the small tube that cuts from one side to the other. What's the purpose of that tube? I want to join a C to a Ku to make my own combined C/Ku but that tube cuts across the centre possibly blocking abit of signal to the Ku. If I remove it is that a problem?
There are two probes as you said, for horizontal and vertical polarity. the one running parallel to the "tube" is the horizontal polarity probe. Actually unless necessary don't insert anything inside especially metallic as you cause interference in electric current flow and risk losing your lnb through short circuit. and if connected to the decoder you may also ruin it.
H sends 18v while V sends 13v which is then converted to electric data which flows through your cable to be decoded by your favorite stb.
Contrary to what has been asserted modifying to make a C/Ku Lnb wont reduce signal but you have to cover the hole always either with its cut out part or Ku lnb to "block" signal from flowing out.
The tube is a form of grounding but for high lightining prone areas always ground your Asas paraphernalia.

The 777 is in that position because it's a fake one. Yet to lay my hand on the genuine one which nowadays is rare to find.
Attached are images of the Supermax 777super original Lnb. They usually come in two shades white or grey but both are original. I have only those two pieces but more stock is on the way. Note there's no HD sticker either on box or Lnb.
Forgive my poor camera.

The picture/logo they have used in the article is of Gazi tv , but the G in GTV the was for Gateway. Whatever the name, the more variety, the merrier for ASAS.
Gazi also used to air games we will keep checking it out unless they ££££ it again.

I prefer KU Band because it is a 240cm offset.
Then get inverto.. if you can't find one in kakamega , get the dsvt ones are also good. Your massive dish size will also work to your advantage as you'll be able to get good signal with weak lnbs.

GIDEN, the work of the vertical and horizontal probs is well understand. But there is a third metal that cuts from one side of the lnb to the other, across the diameter of the lnb. Say something about the work of that.

Feedback ( my three days test) of titanium C1 pll.

Just like I promised, here is my experience on the said Cband lnb which I was impatiently waiting for.

Without further ado, let me just dive into it.

This lnb cost 60.57 USD including shipping cost to east Africa.
I tested it using two gulf star 6ft sat dishes, one pointed at 68.5
And another pointed at 76.5, ( sorry no parasiting)

To make it fair and interesting I replaced my old 777 gulf star Cband lnb with a new same 777 gulf star lnb model. The 777 gulf star lnb is what I've been using for about 6 years and cost only 6.5 USD and available here in TZ.

How the experiment was conducted.?

The receiver used was Freesat v8 Golden, and I experimented for three days in the morning, evening and midnight( around 00.00-00.30, but based on my problem with some channels being illusive especially at evening to midnight, I focused only on evenings and midnight and I have found little to no differences with regard to signal quality on each lnb on those 3 days.

The reason for picking 68.5 and 76.5 is because at 68.4 there is an elusive channel that comes during the day especialy at dawn and dance through the day when iam at work and disappears in the evening when I'm back home. (Many of you know already what channel I'm talking about).

On the other hand there was a time when I nabbed the cartoons on 76.5 like three months ago ( please don't ask why being such a grownup me self I still watch cartoons, hehehe! of course my kid loves them too).
So because of their classy cartoons I kept on assembling and disassembling the dish in hope of getting them but I've always ended up with failure.

So iset the titanium c1 pll on one dish and gulf star 777 on another dish and interchange them in order to get the findings.

Now the results.
On 68.5.

On &#%scvary channels which comes in the morning and disapears in the evening, The titanium c1 pll hit
56-59 signal quality while the gulf star 777 got 66-69
On xony channels (these by the way have no issues, they are always there 24/7. Its just for comparison purposes)
The titanium c1 pll got 36-38 while Gulf star 777 got 43-45
On &BO channel they both got within the range of 73-77( with the final testing around 23.10 hours, they both scored 77.

On 76.5
On this sat, two tps were used to test the performance of these two lnbs.
One for Dzney channels and another for A*N channels

The resuts

On Dzney channels the titanium C1 pll Managed to get them on the range of 63-66(remember these channels disappeared like 3 months ago, and never accessed them prior this experimentation).
As the titanium c1 pll got them on the said signal quality, the gulf star could not get them on both three days' experimentation.

On A*N channels, titanium c1 pll and gulf star 777 got them on
42-43 range.

My take!
Those &%#scavery channels on 68.5 aren't weak on signal but just elusive( I may be wrong on this)

Titanium c1 pll only performs better on 76.5 but trail on 68.5
While gulfstar 777 rocks on 68.5 but looses badly on 76.5.

Final view
Despite the fact that c1 pll is 6 times higher the cost of gulf star 777, it does not perform better in every channel, nope! It only rocks on channels with weak signal but not on elusive channels like #&%scavery channels.
The gulf star 777 on the other hand when its new, it kills the elusive #&$scavery channels on 68.5. Now I have them dancing 24/7 on my 6 ft gulf star dish.

Therefore, c1 pll is not worth the cost, and gulf star 777 is one killer lnb at a fraction of 15000 Tsh, equivalent to 750 Kenya shillings or 6.5 USD.
However for me, I'm not regreting any bit folking 60.57 USD. Having those Di$ney channels again makes me forget c1 plls poor performance on 68.5.

There you have it.
Thanks for the great review.
I wish you were closer to me i would take the Titanium for a walk. I also envy you guys for the Gulfstar dishes, when well assembled they perform like Eurostar or even better.
Now down to my observation/recommendation.
1. Different dishes although collocated side by side perform differently so you erred if you only inserted lnb corrected skew and waited.
2. A tape measure to a sat enthusiast is like a No. 10 spanner or stars crewdriver. measure the focal lengths on both dishes and note if there are any disparities.
3. Is there any obstruction on your satellite path ? how far if any ?
4. Do you have a spirit level to measure whether your base is flat.
5. I don't discount your skills but how tight are the spaces between petals ?
6. Have you tried inverting polarities on the Titanium to see which probe is stronger ?

I am not bragging but my 3740 on V7 is nearly Q72 24/7 only midnight reduces slightly to 69 for minutes. Location Kiambu Central .KE

Haha it's not curiosity. Its called ASas.. and itsi definitely not your last brand
So far ive not come across major online store selling it... But you can get it by contacting GIDEN I think he's an honest good guy or you can contact Riwara electronics in Nairobi they do ship.. their contacts are +254723032680.. it may cost you around ksh 4000 shipping included...
Thanks for the thumbs up freq i can ship to him. If i can't deliver i don't take your funds.

That dish is precious to use an ordinary lnb. It can get you 26E whole beam, 95E, you can try 28E UK beam confidently ,13E Hotbird ,Eutwlsat 9E at your location with a strong lnb. Get inverto for offset.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be broadcast in Bangladesh by Bangladesh Television (BTV), Maasranga TV and Nagorik Television, it was announced in a ceremony at a city hotel recently.
Maasranga Tv.....Apstar 7 @76e

Viewers of India enjoy the fifa world cup live on Sony Network as Its Football world cup 2018 official broadcaster of India country . Sony Ten 2 / Sony Six / Sony ESPN channel bring the world cup live in india. @68.5e

Here goes! FIFA, the world governing-body for soccer, has just awarded Kwesé Sports the exclusive free-to-air rights to broadcast the finals of the FIFA World Cup 2018 tournament in sub-Saharan Africa (except South Africa).
Kwesé Sports will broadcast the World Cup exclusively for FREE in over 40 countries, at the same time. This has never happened before in African history. This is why this is such a big deal for us, and for Africa!
# Kwesé Sports will broadcast the finals for free in English, French and Portuguese.
# I believe we will probably broadcast the final itself to over 250m viewers across Africa for free!
# We’ve also secured Pay-TV rights (except South Africa) and will broadcast all matches on our other channels on the decoder and also on the Kwesé Mobile App.
# Every single game will be broadcast, but some will be only available on the decoder and Kwesé App.
These particular rights will be shared with another broadcaster. It is the first time two broadcasters have shared the Pay-TV rights.

Kwese free sports and ntv kenya will only broadcast 32 games - all african teams in their group stages, last 16,quarters, semis, number 3 and finals.

GIDEN, the work of the vertical and horizontal probs is well understand. But there is a third metal that cuts from one side of the lnb to the other, across the diameter of the lnb. Say something about the work of that.
From what i know it is an aluminium metal, a cross pol for perpendicular polarization.
Some kind of for stabilization of those signals that comes in perpendicular instead of linear (horizontal or vertical). That is my two shillings. So it is more of signal rather than electric.

Kwese free sports stream might be carrying kwese free sports 1&2 as it broadcast all 64 games just like 1&2 (not sure stream will broadcast though).
