African Satellite World and Sat Gear

African Satellite World and Sat Gear

Thanks freq though I have been a member for some years since 4922 was baba yao, hooked to IS20. For sure this is one hobby that leaves the neighbours wondering about us. The other day a neighbour asked me whether I can connect a cable of my d$tv to her house, another one was asking how much I pay monthly.....

I can see a long power cable will be my next option since I do not have those digital finders with picture and sound, then they get more fodder to talk about when they see me mounting to the roof with the decoder, laptop and tuner box! The TV is too cumbersome 😀😀😀

😀 😀 😀 I see you checked yourself in and got admitted into the ASAS I.C.U. 😀 😀 😀 Invest in a good satellite meter, it's worth every penny.

Which Way works properly?

This

is the option that works.

hahaha 😀😀😀. welcome to the club. thats part of this hobby. it keeps you fit

you may have to remove the tv outside when its not raining. also invest in a long power cable if you cannot get a good sat finder for now

I managed, at last they're home now. I opted to track 7E first then lowered the dish till they both came in dancing though 7E could not pop on blind scan, I had to manually scan the TP. I now have 5 & 7 at a quality of 69/70%.

Thanks all for your contribution.

Use DW tp (SES-5) and Azam tp (E7B) to balance. Bear in mind that in the latter, you'll listen to radio only.

And ohhhh, on this all the popular radios are encrypted. Just K@y@ and some few others....

He he, yeah....

For sure, it makes hunting a bliss. Thanks.

I did raise the dish upwards a bit and it checked in, I returned to the roof to tighten and found them lost on coming back into the house. We played that game several times, I get them go tighten the nuts, I descend & get met by red till I grew tired! I will try again tonight for 5E is very strong at over 76% on 4922.
While a proper sat meter would be ideal, I in the interim propose you bundle together the 4922 with any of the affordable portable DVD players (about 3K to 5K), which sit comfortably atop the 4922, plus a length of electric cable and climb up the roof with the gear. I currently use the same and it does not disappoint. Indeed a press of the button on the blind search option as you slowly change the elevation and azimuth delivers fairly quickly. The beauty about this is that what-you-get-on-the-roof-is-what-you-get-in-the-house.

I personally find the usual meters very expensive for reasons I don't know, yet they are miniaturized versions of a screen and decoder together. Indeed a search on OLX and Jumia shows you will pay upwards of 14K for even the most basic ones like the Freesat V8 HD Satellite finder without a spectrum analyzer. Maybe the Li-Ion battery plus portability pushes up the cost

Prices are dropping though as Chinese produce iterations of popular brands like sat link. And Luthuli Wolves will obviously rip you off.

Thanks, it feels good managing to nab a targeted bird....mostly so after a lot of toiling.
I do like gospel channels, very much though I always take JW guys with a pinch of salt...sorry to say.
I were docked to IS20 for many years before I moved houses but I will look for a 60 to tune to it again or if possible a PF 'cause it would be better so that I can graduate to C and add the rest of my favourite int'l news channels, pawa to viu and more......

hi guyz wana try n get apstar or is20 using my pauxis combo lnb currently im on is20 ku band on inverto lnb if i switch that lnb for the pauxis combo lnb wil i get both c/kuband channels

For sure though I have a tuner combo box that I can connect with a VGA cable to my laptop, (wait, well, actually I am not sure whether it can be done!) If it cannot then I will go the portable DVD way.
They say that necessity is the mother of invention!

Actually there's a Freesat V8 that I came across in Kilimall yesterday that was going for around Ksh.5800.
It's greed for quick riches coupled with uninformed consumers.....
