African Satellite World and Sat Gear

[h=2]The Era of the 'Fool' Is Over[/h]One definition of a fool is “One who has been tricked or made to appear ridiculous; a dupe:” This is what they think about us and how they treat us. Our cable and satellite providers have been playing us all for fools for years. Making us believe that they were providing us with value, savings and the best of the best for less. Well the truth has finally been let loose and we are letting the whole world know what has really been going on and that there is finally a better way to get the content you want, the way you want, from anywhere you want.

The receiver comes with a small wireless USB dongle already inserted into the rear USB port of the receiver to
connect to your home wireless network using WiFi. You can navigate the internet by either connecting an external
USB wireless keyboard and mouse or via your iPhone / iPad or Android device.
SRT 4930L has PIP Function (Picture in Picture) whereby you can monitor what's on other channels in a small
window within the current channel you are watching.
The iShare feature of the SRT 4930L allows you to share all types of media from photos, music, and video between
your SRT 4930L and your PC, tablet, smart phone, Apple and Android mobile devices. The iShare app also allows
you to select and stream recorded content directly from your SRT 4930L connected HDD to your iPad/iPhone/iPod
Touch and similar android smart phones. You can share this content while the receiver is being used in the sitting
room for watching, recording or playing back recorded programs.
The recommended disk formating is NTFS which enables you to play your recodings on your PC. It also allows you
to see your recorded file as one big whole file within a folder instead of 2 or 3 large files used by FAT 32 system.
You can also format your HDD with EXT3 system used with the Linux operating system which the SRT 4930L runs
on. It is however not recommended that you format storage devices in this EXT3 format type if you wish to connect
the storage device to a PC. If connected a separate program will be required for your PC to recognize the drive.

Katiklo,
Still subscribing to ADMC package? Is ADMC 3 to 7 sports still there? What the current annual subscription? Are the cards married to their decoders?

All,
Anyone subscribing to OSN packages on Nilesat? I see on Lyngsat that they have Discovery channel, Nat-Geo etc. A friend is interested in installing Nilesats to get Nat-geo, Discovery channel plus all the other FTA goodies available. He is not very interested in JSC and sports; just the others (News, Movies, Documentaries, Music). He is looking for a cheaper option than D*S*T*V and Z*K*. Thanks.

i have visited a few naija forums and the Dlink DWA-125 has been hailed as the wifi adaptor of choice. Infact i thought it was the only one that can work. However while in Nairobi a friend bought me a cheap USB wifi adaptor shown below that works great on my SRT 4922.

once the wifi adapter is connected to the receiver go to 1.system setting 2. IP settings and if it is working you should be able to see wifi option

When you press the red button the device will scan any available wifi network and show the ip address. Remember DHCP is on.

Cheers.

Thanks Chief Soita ,I wish you could get the name or part number or even mac address of the usb adapter. or perhaps you could kindly ask your friend in Nairobi to buy on my behalf another piece .

Anyway I have confirmed that I actually do have the D-link DWA-125.
DWA-125_A1_Image_L(Side_OOBE).jpg

Its the same kind that is reported to work with SRT 4922. Unfortunately in my case it does not respond at all.

This whole this rather frusrating as I also bought a Vonet wiFi bridge which has failed

Let him order OSN BOX PLUS from UAE.
am very sure their annual subscription are cheap

I am in Nairobi and subscribe to the ADMC package, AD Sports 3, 4, 5 and 6 are still there, all in HD. The current annual subscription is somewhere around US$ 100 per year, a little more perhaps. And yes, as far as I can tell the cards are married to the decoder, you need both serial numbers, as well as an email address, and a mobile phone number in one the 'supported' countries (which does not include Kenya), to activate, hence good to work through an 'agent' in the ME.

I would be surprised if the OSN packages were cheap, have not checked recently, but all info availble online. When I checked OSN, the reason I did not pursue getting an OSN box and card was that many of the good channels that I would be prepared to pay for, for example BBC Entertainment and BBC Lifestyle, are broadcast on other Satellites at 7 degs West, not Nilesat 201 or Eutelsat 7WA, and those sats are simply not receiveable in Nairobi, no matter what - so I figured that I would be only getting half of what I paid for. At least with ADMC Package, you can sit here in Nairobi and get exactly the same channels that you would recieve in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Jordan!

Chief Soita, after searching ,I think this may be what you are using.

Osn packages are not cheap, cheapest package is about $12 while the platinum is about $102

Hello bro!I see you are inclined into distribution...i do the instilations helped by a multiswitch and a quatro lnb!hope that helps for starters!

Kanyu, you can achieve this by installing 2 dishes, each with a quattro lnb plus unicable multiswitches, you can connect a single TV aerial too to the distribution and then have a socket with 2 outlets in each room - one for satellite and the other for TV.

Been trying to connect my strong 4922 on a 130cm dish inverto lnb all day, i havent locked anything. I dint know its this hard...someone help me out...
