My friend chief in BGM has managed to get a WiFi USB Adapter working on his updated SRT 4922 , I have also read in some naija forum that this does indeed work. However chief soita uses an unknown adapter.

I have tried using D-Link N 150 adapter and TP-Link TL-WN321G, but both are not recognized.

Has anyone tried this out there? because I am keen on making use of the free high speed wireless internet available where I stay

Try D-link DWA-125. Mine is working with it very well and it seems so that this might be the only wifi adaptor working with srt 4922. Good luck.

I still find the old SRT 4930 a much better receiver in picture and sound quality. In addition the AV player in SRT
4930 is much more advanced than the one in SRT 4922 in that it can play any recording made on SRT
4910/4900/4922/4669 and also recordings made by other makes like Technomate, ClarkeTech, Dr. HD etc. SRT 4922
cannot accept to play recordings made by even other Strong models and even playing its own recordings can at
times be problematic. Try to fast forward a recording on SRT 4922 and it will make jerky movements or even freeze
unlike SRT 4930 where movements are smooth even at x32 speed.
The SRT 4930 series come in 3 models: SRT 4930 is the basic model. SRT 4930 LAN has ethernet port. SRT 4930L is
the top model with Linux OS, 2 USB ports and has GMAIL, FACEBOOK, TWITTER, WEB BROWSER, in
addition to YouTube, Picasa, Hardstations, Map, Weather, Internet Radio etc. The 4930 Linux model is the one with
the new GUI like on SRT 4922.
The deciding factor as to which one to buy sometimes depends on the price. The 4930 series are expensive and even
the basic model is twice the price of 4922. The price of SRT 4930 L (Linux) can literally buy you about 5 units of the
recently launched SRT 4950 series.

Thank you Dejumbo for this explanation. I have SRT 4930L which I was going to give out and go for SRT 4922 cos a has been said about the capabilities of 4922 on the forum. Your piece is making me rethink my decision. Pls clear this for me are you saying that 4930L is better than 4922? Is it in terms of price or capability? It seems to that the SRT 4922 is the obvious choice for Fringe sat or FTA enthusiasts. Our brothers who have more experience with receivers so educate us/newbies on capabilities of the different receivers in terms capabilities i.e. tuner sensitivity, patching abilities etc. I am sure this will help newbies to buy the right receiver, depending on what they are looking for. Your response will be appreciated

for thos who cant get Badr 5,Aljazeera America is now also available on Eutelsat 8 West A at 8.0°W - on freq.11637Mhz. Its an interesting News channel with insightful analysis of events and stories. Its got a juicy way of covering issues obviously aiming at winning more American viewers..Now With Press TV, Russia Today, CNN,BBC,CCTV,EuroNews,Aljazeera english, Its interesting getting different perspective on issues like the syra war etc

Aljazeera America poached anchors and reporters from other American networks.. something seemly not unique to our country .Its a pity the previous government frustrated the setting up of Aljazeera Swahili in Kenya

i have visited a few naija forums and the Dlink DWA-125 has been hailed as the wifi adaptor of choice. Infact i thought it was the only one that can work. However while in Nairobi a friend bought me a cheap USB wifi adaptor shown below that works great on my SRT 4922.





once the wifi adapter is connected to the receiver go to 1.system setting 2. IP settings and if it is working you should be able to see wifi option




When you press the red button the device will scan any available wifi network and show the ip address. Remember DHCP is on.

This one is actually my second SRT 4930L. I sold off my first 4930L in order to buy 4922 and I regretted it. So when I
saw another new 4930L in a shop here in Kampala, I immediately bought it. It cost me 500K in UGX (about $200). I
also have the older 4930 LAN among my ever growing collection of Strong receivers.
I have not yet succeeded in tracking the DigiTurk channels on 7E on my 240cm PF dish. I am waiting for a suitable
high gain LNB to do this over the weekend. I tried with an Invacom C120 with PF scaler but managed to get only 2
DigiTurk tps, namely 10804 H 30000 and 10845 H 30000. The rest were just flickering and I hope to lock them with the
famous Inverto LNB. The only open channel I managed to watch was TRT HD.
The software patch files for the Linux SRT 4930L tend to be very big in size; like 55Mb compared to about 3.90Mb
for the latest 4922 patch. Besides the patches, there are many plugins out there that enable you to add more apps
just like a smartphone. The most recent plugin I loaded was the VK Video plugin that enables you to stream or
download good quality movies from VKVideo - Android (Russian site judging from alphabet). There are also Torrent,
DVD etc plugins. The SRT 4930 Linux is a rather complicated receiver for general normal use, but if you want to be
involved fully with your receiver especially software tinkering, then this is the receiver to buy.

Dubai sports hd, star movies hd,star world hd,national geographic hd have already joined ad networks on Freq 12111, symbol rate 27500, Qpsk,dvb-s2, 5/6. Ad sports 7 and 8 have been replaced by star world hd and star movies hd respectively.

I can confirm to you without hesitation that SRT 4930L is far superior to any other Strong receiver currently on the
market. It is the "Mercedes Benz AMG" of Strong receivers; very good build quality, endless capabilities due to its
Linux OS, but very expensive. The SRT 4922 is like the "Toyota Corolla" of Strong receivers; very affordable to
everyone, has most of the desired specs, easily damaged if not handled with care especially the remote.
Furthermore the SRT 4930L is very well supported with third party applications on internet forums offering a whole
host of features such as sharing applications (gbox, newcs, cccam), and many plugins. Its features are amazing and
third party support on the internet is endless.
Do not part with your SRT 4930L.
