It's true if you are used to listening to broadcasts from such stations as bbc world service, voa news, cnn radio and the sort you will struggle having to switch to local stations news bulletins that lacks quality, limited in coverage and untimeliness.
i can understand your frustrations. unfortunately internet is costly in tanzania leave alone its limitedness otherwise all those are easily accessible online.

also if you search voa1-the hits that voa station is speacial for hit music and news 24 hours with special africa coverage daily
my advice try the following
1. Try Short Wave transimission (SW) in your radio. the quality is not good though compared to what you would expect from FM transmissions but it gets better in night times. When i was in Tz i used to listen to bbc world services via SW before i acquired dstv
2. this is the most reliable. DSTV decoder. IF you are connected to DSTV in your home then you are set to enjoy more than what you are missing now. it is most likely that the said 101.3 fm was also linking you to bbc via dstv decoder. the dstv decoder has so many radio stations embedded in it. so many that you will be surprised. hapo ni 24 hours unapata idhaa za kiingereza karibia zote kubwa duniani na ndogo pia. mimi ni mpenzi wa english news toka kwa foreign big broadcasters kama bbc, dw, cnn, sky na radio nyingine maarufu uk us na SA. hizi zote napokua kwangu tz nazisikiliza kupia dstv decoder una switch kwenye upande wa radio stations tu. tatizo hapo utakosa kuangalia tv kwa wakati ambao uko kwenye radio. uzuri radio hawajazibana kama mpira so hata ukilipia ile ya 35,000 tzs bado unazipata zote.
