Liu Yougang had accidentally swallowed the instrument as a child and has experienced breathing problems and made a whistling sounds as he slept ever since.
According to the Chengdu Commercial Daily, the 23-year-old has undergone a successful operation at the West China Hospital and the whistle - which was found in his lower lobe bronchus - has now been removed.
Mr Yougang said: ''The whistle had been embedded in my body for many years and had been broken down gradually.''
