When bias is alleged in a case by the accused/applicant, the Judge is advised to do the following:

In the case of, Kishore Vallabhdas and Another Vs. SMZ (Zanzibar) Criminal Appeal No. 80 of 1999 in which the Court of Appeal of Tanzania held as follows and I quote:

"Where bias has been alleged then unless there be very good reasons, it is prudent for the judge or magistrate concerned to step down not to insist on hearing the matter."
