Wizara ya Afya ya nchini Kenya leo ijumaa imethibitisha visa vipya 149 vya Covid 19 na kufanya jumla ya maambukizi katika taifa hilo kufikia 5,533.
Katibu Mkuu wa Afya Dkt Rashid Aman, akihutubia waandishi wa habari wakati akitoa sasisho za kila siku za COVID-19, alisema idadi hiyo ya Wagonjwa imepatikana baada ya sampuli 3,090 kujaribiwa katika ya masaa ishirini na nne iliyopita.
Maambukizi hayo mapya yalikuwa yameandikwa katika kaunti kadhaa kati yao; Nairobi (73), Mombasa (20), Kajiado (15), Siaya (13), Machakos (3), Kilifi (1), Nakuru (1), Nandi (1), Bungoma (1), Isiolo (1).

The Ministry of Health on Friday said Kenya had confirmed 149 more positive cases of the coronavirus taking the total number of infections to 5,533.
Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Rashid Aman, addressing the press during the daily COVID-19 updates, said 3,090 samples were tested within the last twenty four hours.
Dr. Aman said the new cases include 148 Kenyans and one foreign national, composed of 94 males and 55 females aged between one and 76 years.
The new infections were recorded in various counties among them; Nairobi (73), Mombasa (20), Kajiado (15), Siaya (13), Machakos (3), Kilifi (1), Nakuru (1), Nandi (1), Bungoma (1), Isiolo (1).
The CAS added that 48 patients were also discharged from various health centres in the country, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,905.
Five more patients succumbed to the disease as well, hence the tally of fatalities rose to 137.
In honor of the international day against drug abuse, Dr. Aman urged parents and caregivers to engage children about the harmful effects of drug use.
“Drug abusers at risk of contracting COVID-19 due to reduced immunity, poor hygiene, culture of sharing paraphernalia,” he said.
