Watu 246 wamekutwa na maambukizi ya COVID-19 kati ya 2,484 waliofanyiwa vipimo ndani ya saa 24 zilizopita Nchini Kenya, huku Wizara ya Afya ikisema kuna ongezeko la 9.9% la maambukizi

Katika waliobainika kuna Wakenya 196 na wageni 50, Wanaume wakiwa ni 135 na wanawake 111. Jumla ya wenye maambukizi imefikia 329,353, Jiji la Nairobi likiongoa kwa kuwa na maambukizi 191.

Kenya Records 246 New COVID-19 Cases, Positivity Rate At 9.9pc

The Ministry of Health has announced that 246 people tested positive for COVID-19 out of a total of 2,484 people tested in the last 24 hours.

The country's positivity rate has risen to 9.9%, according to Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe in a statement to newsrooms on Sunday.

There were 196 Kenyans and 50 foreigners among the cases; 135 men and 111 women, with the youngest being five years old and the oldest being 90 years old.

Total confirmed positive cases are now 329,353 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 3,722,562.

Nairobi had the most cases (191), followed by Nyeri (17), Kiambu (9), Kitui (7), Garissa (6), Mombasa (4), Murang'a (3), Kisumu (2), Nakuru (2), Busia, Kisii, Kwale, Siaya (1), and Turkana (1).

CS Kagwe also stated that 202 patients had recovered. 198 are from the Home Based and Isolation Care Program, while 4 are from various health facilities across the country.

“This pushes the total recoveries to 320,566 of whom 267,491 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,075 are from various health facilities countrywide,” he said.

There have been no new deaths, bringing the total number of fatalities to 5,651.

As of June 18, the ministry reported that 18,582,262 vaccines had been administered across the country as part of the ongoing vaccination campaign.

The proportion of adults fully vaccinated is now 31.5%.

According to the Health Ministry, the Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033 by end of 2022.
