A public clash between Uganda' s Football president (FUFA) Engineer Moses Magogo and Sports Minister Peter Ogwang over AFCON 2027 budgeting has exposed a deeper power struggle in Uganda’s sports leadership.
Ogwang argues that FUFA acted outside the agreed government framework, insisting all AFCON-related budgeting should go through the Ministry of Education and Sports and the National Council of Sports, to avoid parallel processes.
Magogo maintains that FUFA followed established procedure, noting the federation formally submitted and shared its documentation with the relevant authorities.
The disagreement became public enough for Parliament to halt the meeting.
With PAMOJA meant to symbolize unity between Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania, this standoff raises a critical question:
Where does this leave the final preparations?
