Uganda has received 19,200 Lenacapavir injection HIV prevention drug administered twice a year.

This shipment that arrived on Tuesday February 24 will be distributed to districts with high prevalence of HIV

This is a significant achievement by the Ministry of Health as it continues to battle the disease across the country.

Lenacapavir developed by US Based Gilead Sciences has been tested and is more than 99 percent effective in preventing HIV.

According to Uganda AIDS Commission, approximately 1.5 million people were living with HIV in Uganda
