Uganda has taken a creative step to market its tourism sector in Europe through a new football partnership in Germany.

The Embassy of Uganda in Berlin has signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with German football club VfB Einheit zu Pankow to promote the country's tourism brand, "Explore Uganda – The Pearl of Africa."

Under the agreement, Uganda's tourism brand will feature on the playing kits of the club's first men's team and the G2 youth team, giving the East African nation increased visibility among football fans and local communities in Germany.

The partnership is expected to use the popularity of football as a platform to market Uganda's diverse tourism attractions, including its wildlife, natural beauty, cultural heritage, and adventure experiences. Officials believe the initiative will help raise awareness of Uganda as a travel destination while strengthening people-to-people relations between Uganda and Germany.

Beyond tourism promotion, the collaboration is also aimed at fostering cultural exchange and community engagement through sport, particularly among young people. By associating the "Explore Uganda – The Pearl of Africa" brand with grassroots and community football, Uganda hopes to reach new audiences and inspire more visitors to explore the country.
