Uganda has launched a two-week mobile tourism campaign in Paris, France, using three branded buses to promote the country’s tourism attractions and attract more European visitors.
The initiative, unveiled by the Uganda Embassy in France on June 23, features buses covered with images of Uganda’s mountain gorillas, the Rwenzori Mountains, the Source of the Nile, and Kidepo’s savannah landscapes.
The campaign aims to capture the attention of millions of tourists who visit Paris during the summer season and encourage them to consider Uganda as a travel destination. The buses will cover more than 200 square kilometres daily, targeting French-speaking commuters and visitors across major European hubs.
Uganda’s Ambassador to France, Doreen Ruth Amule, said the country wants to learn from tourism giants like France, Spain and Portugal by positioning itself to attract a share of the millions of tourists who visit Europe each year.
The buses carry QR codes linking travellers directly to tourism information, making it easier for potential visitors to explore Uganda’s travel packages.
The focus on France comes as Uganda seeks to increase arrivals from the European market. The embassy says previous efforts have helped raise visitors from the region from about 2,000 to more than 7,400, with a new target of attracting 10,000 French tourists in the next financial year.
The campaign is part of Uganda’s broader economic diplomacy strategy, with tourism identified as a key driver for trade, investment and foreign exchange earnings.
