If you go on any popular website in the world, compare two searches: Kenya and Tanzania, you'll see what I mean.
Kenya is given acres of more airtime and printspace compared to bongolala.
When people think of Africa, they think of 4 countries. South Africa in the south, Nigeria in the west, Egypt in the north, Kenya to the East.
No one talks about you anywhere.
And if you doubt that, go argue with your relatives.

When the president of the US is accused of having been born in Kenya, visiting Kenya first would make it too obvious.
He had to first secure his re-election.
And for an ICC suspect receiving prominent visitors and being received in big countries, that says a lot about the country stature.

Na sio Kikwete tu. Hakuna rais wa Tanzania ambaye ana hadhi.

Truth is being famous comes as a result of your country being famous. The way everyone knows US president, UK Prime Minister, South Africa president etc. no matter who the president actually is.

In most people's mind, Tanzanian president never even crosses their mind. Because Tanzania as a country is nothing.
I doubt any Nigerian today knows who the president of Tanzania is. But they will sing for you all 3 of Kenyatta's names.

A typical African will struggle to mention the presidents of Sierra Leon, Somalia, Gambia, Burkina Faso, Benin etc.. But never Kenya.

I would care less who the coach is, but I can't see the correlation between that and Tanzania being a topic of discussion in Nigeria.

Rwanda is actually more famous than Tanzania in fact most people think Tanzania is one of the small countries in the world somewhere in middle of the Congo.
