Hon. Aden Duale, I respect you as a senior leader and an elder. But I must tell you that your recent remarks about the Kikuyu community shocked me and made me deeply uncomfortable
I am a Kikuyu and I support President William Ruto unapologetically. But Kenya is a democracy. Those who choose not to support him have every right to make that choice without being insulted. Those of us who support President Ruto should not be expected to remain silent when our people are insulted
Please address Rigathi Gachagua, address Uhuru Kenyatta, address leaders in Mt Kenya. The people are not politicians and no politician speaks for every mt Kenyan. William Ruto still enjoys significant support there. Please do not bundle an entire community together and dress us down over political differences
President Ruto has worked so hard to build a country where every community belongs and enjoys equal opportunities. That includes the people of Mt Kenya. Remarks that demean a whole community take us backwards and undermine that work
They also put leaders from the region who support the President in an unfair position. Please do not make them look foolish for standing by him
I respectfully ask you to withdraw your remarks and apologise. We can campaign for the President and defend his record while respecting every Kenyan, including those who disagree with us
