The Manchester City striker has been linked with a move to BVB and the club's sporting director would like to see a transfer happen

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has admitted that Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko is a target for his club, but says that there is an "economic aspect" to navigate.

The Bosnian has been mooted as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who is likely to leave the German champions in the summer.

But the Schwarzgelben are insistent that they cannot do a deal for Dzeko if the Premier League champions are unwilling to set a realistic transfer fee.

"There should be little doubt about Dzeko being a top-class striker," Zorc told Bild.

"He is a great forward and a player one should be keen on. However, there is also still somewhat of an economic aspect.

"[A transfer] would be down to pure maths because Dzeko is under contract at Manchester City beyond the end of the season."

Despite scoring 13 goals in all competitions this season, Dzeko has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Citizens' first team.

Manchester City defender Richards eyeing derby return[/h]
The reigning Premier League champions could face two meetings with Manchester United in April and the right-back is keen to prove his fitness in time to be involved

Manchester City defender Micah Richards is hopeful of returning from injury in time to participate in a potential double-header against Manchester United.

The city rivals are set to meet in the Premier League at Old Trafford on April 8 and, should both teams progress beyond the last eight, will contest an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley Stadium just six days later.

And the 24-year-old is eyeing a high-profile return to Roberto Mancini's squad ahead of those fixtures.

"I think the Newcastle match [on March 30] will come too soon for me, though I hope to have been training normally by then," he told reporters.

"Realistically, I'm looking more to the game away to United and then the FA Cup semi-final, maybe against United again, to be properly involved again - two relaxing games in a week on the horizon!

"I'll be trying my best to get back into the squad. It will be great just to be back among the lads and getting a feel for everything again."

If you believe what you read in the papers, the Blues’ squad will be decimated this summer with all our top stars linked with moves elsewhere. Over the past week or so, we’ve been told Yaya Toure, Edin Dzeko, Samir Nasri, David Silva, Joleon Lescott, Kolo Toure, Scott Sinclair and Carlos Tevez are all being lined up for summer ‘swoops’. Today, add the names of Vincent Kompany and Sergio Aguero who, according to the Daily Mirror, could be playing their football in La Liga next season. John Cross writes : “Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has got Manchester City duo Vincent Kompany and Sergio Aguero on his transfer hit list this summer. “The Spanish giants are making it their priority to keep striker David Villa and sign Borussia Dortmund centre-half Mats Hummels to bolster their defence. But Barcelona’s back-up plan includes City’s Argentine striker Aguero if they end up selling Villa this summer. And Barca will also look at Belgian centre-half Kompany if they cannot land No.1 transfer target Hummels.” ...Media City... As for Scott Sinclair , the City forward seems to be linked with a new club every day at the moment. The former Swansea man’s latest suggested destination is the south coast where Southampton are reportedly interested. Andrew Dillon writes in The Sun : “Scott Sinclair has emerged as the top target for Southampton after he failed to make an impact at Manchester City. “The winger, 23, has started just two matches for the Premier League champions since he made his surprise switch from Swansea at the start of last season. “City had high hopes for Sinclair but Etihad boss Roberto Mancini has been reluctant to give the flier any lengthy run in the team as they try to narrow the 15-point gap on runaway Premier League leaders Manchester United. “Mancini paid Swans £6.2million for Sinclair and would be expecting to get just as much back if City decide to cash in at the end of the campaign.”

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is being linked with a move to AS Monaco.

The Daily Mirror claims the Ligue 1 outfit are set to make a second move for the Citizens chief, with David Moyes, Manuel Pellegrini and Frank De Boer all candidates to replace the Italian at the Etihad Stadium. The paper goes on to suggest that Monaco launched a bid to bring the 48-year-old to the principality 12 months ago, and after failing the first time around, have retained their interest in the former Inter Milan chief. Claudio Ranieiri, nicknamed the 'tinkerman' during his time in the Premier League with Chelsea, has helped guide the club to top spot in Ligue 2, and a probable return to the French top flight next season. But, despite the current manager's success, the report claims Mancini is seen as the 'best long- term option' for the club in the eyes of Billionaire owner Dmitry Rybolovlev. Mancini's future at Manchester City is far from certain, according to the paper , with the club struggling behind Manchester United at the top of the English table after winning the title last season. And, with names already reported to be on the table should Mancini make his move away from Eastlands, a five-year contract offer in Monaco could be too good to turn down - providing the club secure promotion this season.

Anzhi Makhachkala are showing interest in Manchester City's unsettled midfielder Yaya Toure. The ambitious Russians have been alerted to news that the 29-year-old could be willing to leave unless discussions over a new contract are resolved. Toure's agent, Dimitri Seluk, even gave today as a deadline for an agreement to be reached threatening that otherwise his client would be off in the summer. On his way? Russian club Anzhi could bid for Yaya Toure, who could leave City over the lack of contract talks Toure, who was signed for £24million in 2010, still has two years left on a £220,000 a week contract and only recently declared his desire to stay at the club. Talks over an extension began last year but have since stalled. City remain confident that a solution can be reached but are concerned at the timing ahead of an FA Cup semi final and the climax to the Premier League season. Anzhi are one of the few clubs who can match and improve Toure's wages but coach Guus Hiddink has underlined they are reluctant to pay over the odds for players. Super-rich: But Anzhi boss Guus Hiddink does not want the club to pay over the odds for players Real Madrid and Chelsea have also been linked but both clubs would struggle to improve on Toure's current contract and pay a transfer fee of around £25m. That would leave the likes of Anzhi, Zenit St Petersburg and Paris Saint-Germain as the only other main candidates able to afford him. Plans are afoot to overhaul City's squad this summer with sporting director Txiki Begiristain keen to recuit around five new players. Several of the current squad are expected to be offloaded including high-profile names such as Samir Nasri, Edin Dzeko and Joleon Lescott but Toure is not on that list. Offloaded: England defender Joleon Lescott is expected to be on his way out of the Etihad Stadium City do want to strengthen their engine room though with another defensive midfielder and a playmaker. Scouts watched Sevilla midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia on Thursday night as he played for France U20s in their 3-1 win over Denmark while City are also admirers of Borussia Dortmund's Ilkay Gundogan. Kondogbia, 20, is available for around £10m. He was also watched by Real Madrid and Juventus.
