SEE MOVEMENT OF PLANET ACROSS THE SKY OVER NEXT TWO WEEKS
You can see the movement of planet Jupiter across the background sky using the nearby star Spica, which form an attractive pair that will catch your eyes immediately around 7 or 8 pm near the west horizon. Brilliant Jupiter is on the right and bright Spica is on the left. You can distinguish planets from stars by the way they shine. Planets shine steadily while stars twinkle. So check out how the pair shines and identify Jupiter using that.
By following day by day, the changes in the orientation of the Spica-Jupiter pair in the western sky in the evenings over the next two weeks, you will see that although the pair moves down towards the west horizon, Jupiter shifts upwards heading towards the east. This is the normal movement of planets in the sky.
On 22 September, a crescent Moon will join the pair and will form a line Spica-Jupiter-Crescent Moon. It will be a beautiful sight to observe.
