HYDERABAD: A Tanzanian national was found dead in his room in Alwal on Sunday morning. Police suspect he might have committed suicide by consuming poison.

The Alwal police said Shakeer Hamdoul, 25, had been staying at a rented room at Subashnagar in Alwal for the past two years. He was pursuing first-year BCA course at PG College, Secunderabad.

As foul smell was emanating from his room, his neighbour Douglas alerted the police on Sunday morning around 11 am. The police broke open the door and found the body in a decomposed state on the bed. They believe he might have committed suicide five days ago as he was last seen by neighbours on December 26.

Earlier, another Tanzanian national used to stay with Hamdoul, but for the past three months Hamdoul had been staying alone.

Alwal inspector K Srinivas said no suicide note was found in the room and they were yet to ascertain the reason for the death. The body had been shifted to Gandhi Hospital for post mortem. Police booked a case under Section 174 (Suspicious death) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC)
