The deceased, identified as Poni Islam, was an employee of WKK Contractors involved in the ongoing tarmacking of the Yumbe–Terego road in West Nile. According to police, he had checked into Ruvanna Inn Bar and Lodges on Thursday night.

His body was discovered on Friday morning after a lodge waitress reportedly heard a phone ringing repeatedly inside his room but received no response. She alerted the cashier, who then informed the lodge manager.

The manager went to the room, called out several times, and upon getting no reply, pushed the slightly open door. Inside, Islam was found lying lifeless on the bed. A watchman was called to confirm that he was already dead.

The incident was reported to Yumbe Central Police Station, and officers from the homicide desk visited the scene. The body was later taken to Yumbe Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination.

Police spokesperson for the North West Nile region, Collins Asea, said statements from witnesses have been recorded and exhibits recovered, but no arrests had been made by press time. Investigations into the cause of death are ongoing.
