....the establishment of a Horn Of African union/alliance be it political, militarily and economical for all the member States in that region to develop and advance our countries and people. In Europe, France, Germany and Britain fought hundreds of years and were sworn enemies during that period. Post Second World War, Western Europe (with the threats of Communism) had a hard look at itself and decided that unity (E.U & NATO) rather than war would benefit and deliver them permanent security, progress and wealth to their States and citizens. Today Europe is wealthier and more secure and they have absorbed millions of refugees and more desire to legally and illegally migrate to them while risking their lives. Why can't we learn a lesson from them?

Kenya, Somalia/Somaliland, Jibouti, Eritrea and Ethiopia spend billions of $$ of their meagre budgets on arms intended to be used on one another. The overwhelming majority of the people in these countries live below the poverty line, they cant access proper schooling, basic health services, electricity, even drinking water and child mortality rates are very high. Unemployment is rife where most of the youth in these countries dream of escaping poverty and reaching the shores of the Western world to live better lives. They want to reach the same western countries who swallowed their pride and decided to bury the rivalry with their adversaries and instead implement friendships and alliances. That is the foundation of their current status that attracts our citizenry to escape to. Why can't we emulate them and cease the militaristic rivalries for the benefit of our countries and people? Should we always be in perpetual wars, live in abject poverty and expect foreign aid?

I have always thought a restructuring of the region is long overdue.
East Africa has two almost distinct socio-cultural regions within it; the horn of Africa (Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, Djibouti) and the Great Lakes (Burundi, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, South Sudan and Eastern DRC).
Sasa wewe LightYagami chagua mwenyewe which of those two Kenya best fits with.
My pick would be the Great Lakes. In simple terms, you guys are stuck with us. Hao horn of Africa waunde kitu chao sisi tuunde cha kwetu.

We don't have much of a cultural relation with the horn, it's difficult to mix... But business-wise hatuna shida.....

I actually like Igad very much.. A couple of countries that you would never think they will sit on the same table, working together.... the difference between igad and other regional bodies is that Igad doesn't have unachievable ambitions, I was reading about theire vision and was really impressed, They want to have things like a joint medical industry where advanced research is done, joint satelite, to establish an aviation industry... Peace and prosperity through establishing joint weather monitoring and geological research center, protecting environment and peace....Things like that, real tangible and achievable things that don't bring and complication..

I would go with Great lakes any day, we share heritage and cultural background.

Ninyi nyote mnaopigia debe EAC sio watanzania. Mnadhani Tanzania ndio suluhisho la kubanana huko nchini mwenu! Hakuna nchi inayoweza kukubali huo ubwege kila mtu akae nchini kwake.

Shirikisho maanake sio kuunda nchi moja.
We should show leadership!

Hujajibu swali, ni lini waTanzania walisema wanalitaka hilo shirikisho?

We have sadc, ecowas, comesa, eac, igad on the same continent yet we are faced with the same issues as a continent...I know kuna AU, but really? During the AU chairman elections these divisions were so evident, even in sports and resource distribution, it was the West and the North who were benefitting from the previous CAF regime, sasa wee choe an eastern guy. Aren't we tired...We are in the same continent to this date still being divided like they did a 100 years ago. Have one common market for Africa... integrated transport systems, smooth trade...the kind of bargaining power we will have...wacha tu.

Capitalists v/s Socialists
one is vigorous (business-wise) and the other is a pussy.
one is more focussed and knows what he wants when he wants when he sees the opportunity whereas the other one is a lazy bunny.
one is highly developed and the one ia LEAST developed country.
The Least developed country is going to Suffer.
