The government has launched the second phase of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Programme, with KSh3.06 billion set to be disbursed to 122,203 young entrepreneurs across all 47 counties.
President William Ruto is leading the nationwide rollout from Nairobi, while Cabinet Secretaries and senior government officials are overseeing parallel launch events in 17 other locations across the country. The latest disbursement targets 33,269 first-time beneficiaries and 88,934 youth receiving their second tranche of funding. Each beneficiary will receive KSh25,000, bringing the total support under the programme to KSh50,000.
The grants are aimed at young people aged between 18 and 29 years, with at least 70 beneficiaries selected from every ward nationwide. Before accessing the funds, all beneficiaries completed business development training and mentorship programmes designed to equip them with practical skills to establish and grow sustainable enterprises.
The second phase expands the programme's reach to additional regions, including Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Western Kenya, the Central Rift and the Coast. The first phase of the initiative supported more than 121,800 young entrepreneurs through start-up capital and business development support.
