The white nights of Europe

By beating Manchester United in the UEFA Super Cup in Skopje, Real Madrid have deepened their footprint in European football and solidified their crown as kings of the continent.

The legendary side that won five European Cups in succession between 1956 and 1960 now have rivals as the greatest ever, with the current Los Blancos squad who have won three of the last four Champions Leagues.

Since UEFA officially began its club competitions, there have been 189 finals across all of the tournaments they organise, of which Real Madrid have emerged victorious in 18: 12 Champions Leagues, two UEFA Cups and four UEFA Super Cups.

The European Cup is synonymous with Real, and while they were once close to second placed AC Milan - who have seven to their name - their dominance in the last four years has put daylight between them and the rest of the continents major sides once more.

Los Blancos have won the same number of European cups as English and Italian sides, five more than German clubs and six more than those from the Netherlands.

After the most recent continental victory, MARCA said that Real Madrid do not play finals, they win them and their record, particularly in recent years is hard to argue with.

Their impressive total is even more emphatic with their 32-year void considered, failing to win Europe's top club competition after 1966 until 1998.

Is that right? Then I guess it's safe to say the likes of Theo and Ceballos who chose our bench insteada a place in your starting XI aren't no earthlings, or Neymar who traded all that to become another n!gga is Paris.

Our place you say, well last I checked we were chilling where we should be. Kings La Liga, Kings of Europe, Super Kings of Europe, King of the world, and in no way, shape or form could any results of the following 2 games upset any of that. Unless you want to humor me with your typical culo mind.
Neymar has gone for the Benjamins and not football-who in his right frame of mind would swap Heaven(Barca) for hell.
Come sunday me is gonna put camp on this thread-all faint hearted keyboard fans stay aside me is gonna vent football spleen the entire 90 minutes

Apparently.....

Mbappé asked Real Madrid a €12M annual salary just like PSG's offer. Madrid's response was 'good luck in Paris.' [Onda Cero]

Neyamr joined your club for money, and he left for more money. You can twist it all you wish, but we all know the truth.I thought there weren't negative energies in heaven, coz almost every damn thing ever involved with barca is going south, from Qatar, to Sandro Rossell, Rafa Marquez, you name them, not to forget your midget magician is a convicted criminal.

You are always welcome. I understand why y'all camp in our thread, while we don't care to even know how yours look like.

Zidane certain of further Champions League success with current squad
15023633712232.jpg

Zinedine Zidane is a happy man it is easy to see and his success has come down to his method of working and an excellent squad that has been put together which the Frenchman is keen to tinker with as little as possible.

The coach does not want anyone else but he also does not want less and so is not keen on the idea of players leaving like Borja Mayoral or Achraf.

As soon as the Champions League final was over and the trophy raised by Sergio Ramos, Zidane told Florentino Perez that they could do it again if the team was not broken up. At that moment Pepe already was set to leave and James did not have a good relationship with the coach but he did want Morata to stay.

A lot has changed since June 4th but the coach has continued on the same line overcoming crisis over the future of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, and saying that the present squad is ready to repeat its success and build on the six trophies already won as coach.

Zidane continues to think that order and hierarchy are the most important and while he liked Mbappe, the directness of Dembele and the trickery of Dybala, he is happy with what he has. Real have lost 30 goals with the departure of Morata and James but players with a lot of quality are there ready to take their place.

Real are ready to accept that Mbappe will not arrive. Zidane did want to wait for his fellow Frenchman and allow him to come without making creating any great media attention which would have happened if he had stayed another season at Monaco.

At the end of the day, Zidane is showing clearly that he is happy at the club which means most to him and his objective is clear, which is on top of beating Barcelona, to ensure that Bale and Ronaldo are fully focused on what they have to do at Madrid which is something that he is achieving.

We know you kind for playing dirty and upset clubs you're dealing with. Not long ago Santos warned to report you to FIFA for the moves you were pulling on Lucas Lima. I wouldn't be proud if my club was out to sign a player who disrespect his club by going AWOL and refuse to communicate just to force leaving.

But anyway, no biggie how you play your game, just don't come crying to us and the rest when PSG apply the same tricks to you in a few years.

Be that as it may, PSG still came and took one of your very best players and nothing you could do but cry for help that never came. And just so you know, you're not our competition, we're our own competition.

Sunday is just around the corner-the Barca thread will have to forgive me-from the word go-I will be here analyzing the game from head to toe. Messi in this tying times has promised to up the game-this spells trouble

Can Isco join Messi and Ronaldo at football's top table?
15024564613048.jpg

Back in 2013, Manchester United thought Isco's head was too big. That's what a scouting report said of the then Malaga playmaker, with the Old Trafford club deciding to make a move. Tuesday's European Super Cup turned out to be a manifestation of their regret, with Isco sparkling as the best player on the pitch. He could be forgiven for having a big head.

Indeed, if ever a demonstration was needed of how central Isco has become to Real Madrid over the past six months or so, it was offered up in his performance in Macedonia earlier in the week. Everything the reigning double European champions did flowed through the 25-year-old. United simply couldn't keep a grip of him, with their defenders unsure whether to step out to meet him and their midfielders uncertain in their efforts to drop back to pick him up.

That is perhaps the most significant aspect of Isco's rise. While Cristiano Ronaldo might be the current Ballon d'Or holder, holding a claim to be the best football player of all time, it is Isco who best communicates what Zidane wants from his Real Madrid. It wasn't until Isco came into the side as a permanent fixture after the turn of the year that we truly saw his team, until we finally saw his ideas come to fulfilment.

This season could prove to be even more significant for the 25-year-old, though. World football finds itself at a juncture, with the era of Lionel Messi and Ronaldo starting to wind down. Both players are into their thirties now, with their immortality becoming more and more of a factor in their play. It's time for others, including Isco, to make the step up on to their perch.

There's no reason why Isco can't join such company this season. Zidane is now building his Real Madrid side around the playmaker, constructing a system to get the best from him. For so long, everything at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu has been geared towards Ronaldo. He is still the face of Real Madrid, but from a tactical perspective, that might no longer be the case.

Recently signing a bumper contract extension at the club, Isco has become the image of the new Real Madrid. It took him a while to find his feet at the Bernabeu, even struggling for game time as recently as the early part of last season, but that induction period seems to have served him well. He is steeped in what it means to play for Zidane. Isco, more than anyone else, understands what he wants.

What's more, the time is right for Isco to become the game's next global great. Neymar is close to such a level, but will find himself out of the spotlight somewhat at Paris Saint-Germain (at least for games in Ligue 1). Bale reached similar heights not so long ago, but has lost his way since, and things at Barcelona are too uncertain for Luis Suarez to stake a claim.

The crown is there for Isco to take and his display against Man Utd shows that he might already have one hand on it.
