Mimi ni stronger believer wa multilateralism. Naamini kabisa we all need each other. But we need smart multilateralism in this age and era.

SDGs (kwa wale wasiojua ni Sustainable Development Goals-successor to MDGs) is just one of the many proposed solutions to problems that ails our world. I don't see Magufuli being in New York, how will that bring health care benefits to a child in Kigoma or bring clean and safe water to a villager in Kazuramimba. Yes I don't! I do believe all SDGs will be realized by we the people paying our dues/taxes/eradicating corruption/stopping these fat cats from enriching themselves through taxpayers money/judicious use of our natural resources. And holding our government accountable to put the money where it is required. I don't see, why to achieve these, one needs to go to New York! (and don't forget you have Dr. Mahiga there representing (one of the finest diplomat our country can be proud of).

I am against this begging mentality. Humanitarian business is a very complex industry. I have been there. I know. SDGs require financial commitments. How much are we developing countries bringing on the table? apart from begging tusaidiwe? I really hate it when I see African President standing on the podium trying to justify why child enrollment in his/her country is down......yet these same people have 50 people in their delegations chewing millions of taxpayers money! Hivi kweli unaenda kuomba msaada wa kuondoa malaria...wakati msafara wako unatumia millions of dollars. Hiyo ni akili ni tope?

I do believe in the ideals of the UN. I do believe on what it stands for. I do believe in its power and legitimacy in conflict prevention. But all I can say, UN can be effective (read its decisions) when and only if big powers who foot the bill want it to.

Daima Maskini hana sauti. All we should know is that ALWAYS the rich and the poor have different priorities. And for now, in Tanzania our priorities are different.

I am sorry I am kind of occupied now but I promise I will thoroughly respond to your post sometime later. But before I leave I'd highlight one thing: there're lot of exaggeration in your post! Man, we ain't talking of the World Bank here! Neither IMF nor Paris Club but UN! If it were IMF, World Bank or Paris Club I would completely agree with you that we're gonna reach nowhere with begging and to be honest, I hate it. We're talking of The Sustainable Development Goals: a universal push to transform our world and that has nothing to do with those Bretton Woods Monsters' money though they can support it!! It's not about just development but sustainable development. Both you and I know when it comes to sustainable development, it's no longer one country's agenda but global agenda because it strictly includes the universe we're in!

By the way umesahau kitu sasa hivi Brettonwoods FIs ndo zinatoa pesa kwa ajili ya hizi issues tunazoongelea.....refer Ebola crisis, Iraq Humanitarian crisis, Syria nk......SDGs is simply a push by the UN and developing countries to attract focus on these neglected issues ambazo otherwise no one would be looking at. Ofcourse you achieve this consensus through UNGA. But in reality we need money. from where? I don't know.

By the way zile pledge za jana kwenye ile conference ya Obama, some countries simply recycled what they said/pledged in London!

Hii maana yake ni kwamba, hata kama world leaders wasingekutana UN na kuzungumzia hizo challenges, bado ungeenda Bretton Woods kupiga magoti ili kutatua hizo challenges hata kama zingekuwa zipo highlighted na nyinyi wenyewe! Na ikiwa msingeenda basi hata baada ya makubaliano ya UN for SDGs hamtakuwa na sababu za kwenda ingawaje wajibu wa kutatua hizo changamoto upo pale pale!!

Halafu unajaribu kunishawishi kwamba lengo la Refugees & Migrants Summit ni kwa ajili ya Waarabu ili kuziepushia mzigo Western Countries! Unajaribu kunishawishi kwa kufikia kusema out of $ 500M, CAR walipata less than 12% compared to what walipata Middle Eastern countries! Mkuu, ulitaka wapate asilimia ngapi kwa mfano?! Hivi una habari kwamba Wakimbizi wa Syria peke yake ni zaidi ya TOTAL POPULATION ya watu wote (sio wakimbizi) wa CAR? Sasa ulitarajia mgawanyo uwe vipi ikiwa wakimbizi wa nchi moja tu unazidi population mzima ya nchi nyingine athirika!
