Police in Mukono have arrested Kikomeko Christopher, the driver of a Friendship Coaches bus involved in a fatal road crash on July 10, 2026.

The crash occurred at about 6:30am and involved the bus, which was carrying students from Mwebaza High School in Kakiri, Wakiso District.

Police said the arrest followed investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash. The investigations have since established charges against the driver, who is expected to face 44 counts in connection with the incident.

The charges include one count of reckless driving and one count of causing death by reckless driving.

Kikomeko also faces 40 counts of causing bodily injury, in addition to one count of causing damage to a railway train.

The charges cover the different consequences attributed to the crash, with the majority relating to bodily injuries sustained in the incident.

Police said the suspect remains in custody and will be presented before court to answer the charges and undergo the appropriate legal process.

The July 10 crash involving the Friendship Coaches bus carrying students had prompted a police investigation, which has now resulted in the driver’s arrest and the formulation of the 44 charges.

Kikomeko is expected to be formally brought before court, where the charges will be read to him and the case handled according to the law.
