Police have arrested more suspects as investigations continue into a series of murders and robberies in Ibanda and Kazo districts, including the recent arrest of a one Bogere Ayub, 28.
According to police, Bogere was arrested on October 15, 2026, at Independence Park in Kiswahili Cell, Mbarara City. He is suspected of involvement in two fatal attacks and is believed to be an associate of Tusiime Hickson, alias Kabuto, who was arrested on October 12.
One of the cases under investigation occurred on the night of August 28, 2026, when four family members were attacked at their home in Rwenshabya IV Village, Keihangara Sub-county, Ibanda District. Two victims, Kenguto Margaret, 76, and Kwesiga Anthony, 13, died from their injuries.
Police had earlier arrested Sebulime Charles and Mujunansi Deuse in connection with the attack. The two suspects were subsequently taken to court.
In neighbouring Kazo District, police are investigating the killing of Asimwe Rashida, who was reportedly strangled on August 27, 2026, in Mpuga Cell, Buremba Sub-county. Her money and other belongings were allegedly stolen by Bogere and other suspects.
Police have also arrested Frank Mugisha, 39, alias Muhima, and Asasira Apophia, 38, for questioning over allegations of facilitating criminal activities and receiving suspected stolen property. Their alleged involvement remains under investigation.
The arrests follow increased security deployments and community engagement initiatives in the affected districts.
Police have urged anyone with information that could assist the investigations to report to the nearest police station, assuring the public that investigations are ongoing and that those found responsible will be brought before the courts.
