The operation, conducted by the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety in collaboration with Kampala Metropolitan Police, recorded the highest number of arrests in Katwe, where 23 suspects were apprehended.
Jinja Road followed with 20 arrests, while Kawempe recorded 18, Kabalagala 16 and Kira Road 15.
The operation forms part of police efforts to curb drink-driving, particularly during weekends when increased social activities often involve alcohol consumption.
According to the Directorate, the arrest of 92 suspects in a single night across the five operational areas highlights the scale of the drink-driving challenge in the metropolitan region.
Police also pointed to road crash statistics showing that weekends account for more road crash fatalities than other days of the week, reinforcing concerns about the dangers associated with weekend driving.
The Directorate has warned motorists against driving under the influence of alcohol, urging them to make responsible choices to protect themselves and other road users.
“If you drink, do not drive. If you drive, do not drink,” the Directorate advised, calling on all road users to take responsibility for safer roads and the prevention of avoidable deaths.
