Personal phone records for U.S. president-elect, Barack Obama, were breached by Verizon Wireless employees this week, a Verizon spokesperson reported. The company notified Obama's transition team about the incident Wednesday (November 19th, 2008).

The phone on the account was not Obama's trademark smart-phone, so none of his personal e-mail or voicemail could be accessed. Obama spokesperson, Robert Gibbs, said the president-elect no longer uses the phone in question. Regardless, Verizon launched an internal investigation to determine whether or not information was shared outside the company.

All employees who looked at the records are on temporary leave, with pay, pending the investigation
