Bagamoyo port expansion is riddled with allegations and counter allegations of official graft.

The only troubling conditionality is the Chinese developers insistence both Mtwara and Tanga ports be forsaken so that not posing a competition threat to Bagamoyo port redevelopment!

If true, then sovereignty compromise issues resurface and no collection of taxes for the next 35 years raises eyebrows.

We think taxes have to be collected because all the services to be rendered at that port will need roads for load haulage. Not paying taxes will impose a huge burden on road making financial capacity given the amount of tonnage to be hauled and the potential damage on our roads.

We strongly feel we do not need Chinese help in any BOT agreements. If you can burn 10 T at Stigler's Gorge then we should be able to expand both Mtwara and Tanga ports using own resources.

Bagamoyo not our priority given the location very close to Dar port while both Mtwara and Tanga are in dire need of expansion.

Jobs will be created either way so no longer a compelling argument.

If Bagamoyo port is approved and both Tanga and Mtwara ports are forsaken then it will be an intentional effort to bring unbalanced regional development. So never again complain over rural urban migration because we are its chief architects...

The makinikia experience left sour taste in our mouth, however. The reasons advanced to detain the makinikia were later abandoned after the agitators were bribed. Once bribed all the arguments against exportation of makinikia were forsaken. After lining their pockets, nobody cared anymore about kiln constructions to process the metals locally. Hastily, the argument shifted to the makinikia ought to be allowed to be exported because the miners had agreements with metal processors abroad so they need to respect those arcane agreements. Nobody cared about us anymore but to please the miners. The tone abruptly changed from hostility to accommodation of foreign miners' convenience. What we came to learn is that shujaa wa Afrika used us as haggling baits to line up his bulging pockets. From defending the citizens before he was compromised to the miners have rights too. Very unpatriotic despite demanding unquestioning patriotism from all of us....

Our concern is we are not sure of the conditionalities imposed by the Chinese in Bagamoyo port redevelopment. We suspect the makinikia tactics may be at hand to force the Chinese to oil our policy makers with hefty bribes.

Unless, the Parliament has read the contract and share the niggling issues with the public any approval of Bagamoyo port redevelopment will be regarded as bribes have changed hands to forsake Tanga, Mtwara ports and tax collection...After this our bellwether will do well desisting from preaching patriotism....

Exciting day

Mwinyi Sr is another clown who clamoured for wiping out presidential term limits to dole out Shujaa with unlimited reign.

For his troubles, his son became a darling of the fifth reich enjoying the molded bread with Shujaa

Now, in the height of self serving has changed tune praising a new ruler in a manner which is critical of the predecessor.

Claiming people are now happy means Shujaa made them unhappy but coming from him is perplexing...if Mwinyi cared about our happiness why during the draconian rule of Shujaa did he shout ...tatizo ni katiba tu? He never cared about our furaha but his alone and his little ones..

Prostrating before a new leader is part of his scheme as this is 2015 de-javu

Mwinyi is just going through the motions of total loyalty to ensure his political dynasty remain relevant to our ever changing political spectrum
