MV Pearl Makes Emergency Return After Vehicle Catches Fire

The MV Pearl ferry operating on the Bugoma–Bukakata route in Kalangala District was forced to make an emergency return after a vehicle caught fire on board.


About six minutes into the journey to Bukakata, thick smoke was seen coming from the vehicle, prompting the captain to turn the ferry around and head back to the Bugoma landing site.

The vehicle was safely offloaded, and the fire was extinguished on shore.

Normal ferry operations have since resumed.
