Museveni also thanked the cadets' families and the leadership of the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) for supporting and guiding them throughout the training process.
Addressing the officers, the President emphasized that a strong national defence depends on several key pillars, including a robust economy, well-trained soldiers, investment in science and technology, and cooperation among African countries.
He noted that the UPDF's role extends beyond defending the country's borders, stressing the importance of protecting wealth creators and supporting efforts to combat crime and acts of sabotage within communities.
Museveni said the military must continue to contribute to national development by ensuring security that enables businesses and citizens to thrive.
The commissioning marks the entry of 280 new officers into the UPDF, adding to the force's capacity to safeguard Uganda's security and support national development goals.
