PRESIDENT Robert Mugabes opponents have gone crazy in their desperation to see him out of power by spreading false rumours that he is on his death bed in Singapore, his party said.
"Those who hate our President have gone crazy, said Christopher Mutsvangwa, a senior member of the Zanu PF politburo.
He added: They look at every movement the President makes, even a holiday move, they want to read more into it than the ordinary.
Information Minister Webster Shamu said: Its a lot of hogwash.
This is not the first time we have heard these rumours.
Mugabe left Harare on an Air Zimbabwe Boeing 767 on March 31, stopping first in Singapore.
His spokesman said he was on an Easter vacation with his family, including daughter, Bona, who is set to begin studies for a Masters degree in Hong Kong.
Even as speculative reports flooded the international media about the 88-year-old leader being gravely ill, his aides were briefing reporters that Mugabe was already in Hong Kong preparing to fly home on Tuesday night, arriving in Harare just after mid-day on Wednesday.
"The President is in good health, so there is nothing that the people of Zimbabwe should worry about," said Zanu PF spokesman Rugare Gumbo.
Mugabe will chair a cabinet meeting on Thursday, Gumbo confirmed.
