Poverty can be measured in different ways, one of them is to use the Poverty Head Count Ratio (PHCR); which is the proportion of the population whose incomes are below the official poverty line. The results from the second Household Budget Survey conducted in 2007 indicate that Tabora (12.1 %) and Dar es Salam (17.5 %) have the smallest poverty head count ratio, and Dodoma (35.3 %) and Singida (33.8 %) have the highest percent of the population living below the poverty line. In conclusion, Dodoma is the poorest region in Tanzania, full stop!!!
