Milka, a Community Health Worker in Nyamatongo Ward, Sengerema District, has made significant progress in her role after receiving training from the Amani Girls Organization on violence prevention and early childhood development. Over the past year, she has visited 20 to 30 households monthly, addressing critical issues related to family health, nutrition, immunizations, and school enrolment.

One noteworthy case involved a mother of three children. The eldest daughter faced undue pressure to fail her examinations and work as a domestic servant, while her two younger siblings, aged 6 and 7, were not attending school and were instead engaged in fishing activities. Through her dedicated efforts and support, which included utilizing her resources to purchase school uniforms, Milka successfully persuaded the mother to enroll all three children in school. Although the mother was initially resistant to this change, she now conveys her gratitude for Milka's intervention.

In addition to her work with individual families, Milka actively advocates for education within her community, encouraging parents to prioritize schooling over child labour, which is prevalent in her village.
